What did you do today? Anything memorable?

Since I am medically disabled I thought that my life would slow way down. I thought that I would have plenty of time to get things done. I do have a lot of time but I don’t want things to take forever.

I didn’t sleep well again last night but I did get up and I got my gun room organized a little more. I put some more of my WWI & WWII items put up. While organizing I did notice that a couple of items needed some TLC. One item was my WWII linemans pouch. The leather needed some protection on it. The pliers and knife really needed help with rust starting on both items. I got the rust off of the pliers and the knife. The tip was broke off one blade and they were both dull as a butter cutter. I sharpened the blades and put conservators wax on everything so I don’t have to worry about rust again for a long time. Both blades cleanly cut paper now.

I also finally got 10 magazines in today. I have been looking for factory BUL magazines for my two BUL 5 9mm handguns. You can’t hardly find any and if you do people are asking $150 for one used magazine.

I started doing research to see if I could find an magazine from another double stack 9mm 1911 style handgun that would work in the BUL 5. I was finally able to piece together different opinions, some people claiming something works and somebody saying the exact opposite. I was finally able to track down the actual factory model numbers for the magazines that I wanted to try. I crossed my fingers and ordered 10 that I thought that would work.

I knew that I was going to have to modify the magazine catch and open it up more towards the top of the magazine. The magazine catch on the BUL 5 is higher in the magwell than on the Rock Island or Remington double stack 1911 9mm.

The first one I opened up a little too much. It still works it has a little room to move whereas the other magazines lock in pretty tight with no movement. I loaded the magazines and tested the magazines by hand cycling the slide and all the magazines worked great. I did polish the frame feed ramp and the barrel feed ramp on both of my BUL 5 just for added reliability when shooting flat point or hollowpoint rounds. So instead of paying $150 per magazine, I got these quality Mec-gar magazines for $25 apiece.

Project at Navy Base. Install new diesel generator to power building in emergency. 100KW gen set, feeds thru Manual Transfer Switch ( MTS ) (with load bank connection) to Automatic Transfer Switch ( ATS ). The ATS is inserted between Transformer ( XFMR ) and building Main Electrical Distribution Panel ( MDP ) So After everything set in place, and Gen Set wired to MTS and ATS…
In one 12 hour period - De-energize XFMR, pull out old conductors from XFMR to MDP. Re pull new from XFMR to ATS and ATS to MDP. Re-energize. :+1:

Everything is connected via underground duct bank encased in concrete which we also installed along with generator pad. We did all work, including moving and setting equipment in place, with exception of the Generator itself, we hired a crane. Just to set it though, we transported it. We have 5 employees, of which only myself and one other guy are experienced electricians … :us_outlying_islands:

Enclosed 1200A breaker in ATS. 24 - 600MCM conductors, plus 3 - 3/0 ground conductors.

Crap man that is a ton of work for just 5 people. Your work looks very professional. I don’t know how you keep all of that stuff straight.

I didnt sneeze in my mask!

Mec-Gar is the Shizznit!

(Of course they SHOULD BE - they’re the OEM Mag Manufacturer for like, half the Planet! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:)

Wow Leonard that looks very impressive brother!

I like what l see! Every time you post!!! Mink oil on that leather?

Yes, I always have a few cans of mink oil stashed around the house for easy use.

Played double 6 dominoes with the wife!
2 rounds to 500, we each won one hand.

I caulked the bottom seams of the shower stall and upped my dumbbell shoulder press from 10 to 22 lbs. The shower was tricky because I’m not small, and I can’t stand bent over, so I had to scoot around on my butt with caulk. I have long legs and I can’t sit legs folded anymore. Also did laundry.

Memorable? Definitely not today.

I installed an original ruskey sling on my ak-103 love it

Renewed my pistol permit online.
Does that count

Stripped the stock on a Remington 511P yesterday. Could not sleep much last night so l got up and went to the shop to finish up final detail.

Ok now I am interested. I love seeing other people restoring a firearm. I will be watching if you document this restoration. :+1:

Gonna bump this to your thread brother operator… The Vulnerable 22 which l would like to call it Rimfire Deluxe!

The Wife and I went to the range, and practiced one-shot target-acquisition with the shot clock.

And we didn’t argue, or fight, or yell, or shoot each-other, or Nothin’!

Shot my G17 for the first time today. It ran as expected.

I sent some more time today organizing and labeling things in my Gerstner boxes. I also worked on a few of my older wood tool handles. They really needed some more protection. I also cleaned up some surface rust off of some of my files, tools and measuring tools. Slowly one step at a time I am getting closer to having everything in my gun room organized and put up. My OCD is kicking in because I am one of those people who always put things back up and cleans up after every project. Right now it is hard to clean up. I have more items that I don’t currently have a permanent place to put them yet.
