Most militaries in the past at times have used a .22lr to cheaply teach marksmanship. So many of us growing up learned to shoot with a BB Gun, pellet rifle or the venerable little .22lr. The rounds aren’t as cheap as they used to be but they are still cheaper than most centerfire calibers. I enjoy shooting many different caliber rifles. It seems like I always come back to and enjoy shooting the little .22lr. in handguns and in rifles. I have built a few and upgraded a few over the decades. I have taught a few people over the years how to shoot with a .22lr handgun. No recoil and with subsonic ammo or suppressed you don’t have all of the noise associated with shooting. I just finished building a varmint or target .22lr. I love CZ. They produce great firearms at very reasonable prices. Their .22lr rifles are very well made and high quality. I started out with a CZ 457 action and put a CZ MTR heavy barrel with a match chamber in it. I used a Timney flat trigger and I put it in MDT Chassis with a MDT Skeleton buttstock. I took my Nightforce scope off of my Browning X bolt and put it on this rifle. The action is butter smooth. I polished part of the bolt to reduce friction. There are a few other items but I listed the main ones. I haven’t had a chance to take it out yet. My brother and I were planning to go to our range and do some shooting on Saturday. I overdid it this week and did way too much. Friday morning running a temp and not feelimg good at all. So I stayed home in bed most of yesterday. I am feeling a little better this morning. I hated thst I missed the chance to go ahead and zero it. I really think that this setup is going to be a tack driver. I have a CZ 455 that I bought and did a lot of work on it and it is very accurate. I believe the 457 is most probably be more accurate that I am anymore. I still have to cut out the foam for it to properly in the Pelican case.
At least 22lr cartridges didn’t run out pepridge farms remembers
That rimfire is on steroids!!!
I’ve never heard of nor seen Eley ammo I’ll have to look them up.
Just did a quick check and it looks like 22lr has recently gone up in price.
5500 rounds is Rookie Numbers, you gotta pump that up… ![]()
Its a light shooter in 22lr as far eley goes for semi autos
Should we also talk about over 25k of CCI Standard and another 1k of SK Standard Plus Long Range? We arent talking about the cheaper Federal 525 bulk or Remington Thunderbolt bulk pack .22lr ammo. This is over 31k of premium Target .22lr ammo.
I get one bullet which I have to keep in my pocket.
That is an important point about about some of the types of Eley in different semi autos not fully cycling the bolt. Most people like me that are spending the extra $$$ shooting target ammo for accuracy aren’t really shooting semi autos. They are shooting bolt guns. I do use the CCI Standard in a Ruger 10/22 that I built and they cycle it just fine.
Ok @Rufus- Barney. AH AH AH, Andy can I put my one bullet in my gun now? ![]()
A good many years ago I read an article where someone had conducted a survey of what were called back then “cat burglars”. The respondents were convicted burglars in jail/prison.
One of the questions asked was which armed homeowner/resident and weapon they feared most. The overwhelming answer was a woman armed with a .22 semi-auto pistol. Their reasoning was the lack of recoil and fear as the woman emptied the magazine…

Barney
Ive used federal its good 22lr
You are absolutely correct. The Federal 525 bulk packs used to be my main go to ammo for .22lr. I don’t shoot it anymore because it is supersonic ammo. Now I only shoot .22lr subsonic ammo. I always shoot .22lr with a suppressor. Subsonic .22lr has been shown to be more accurate overall than supersonic. If I didn’t have a suppressor and I wasn’t chasing every bit of accuracy that I can get I would definitely be using Federal 525 bulk pack. Overall to me it is the best .22lr there is for the price.
thanks for the video. i cant wait to watch the whole thing.
If you got one of the Beretta 71 you would love it. It has been said by many different people that the 71 is one of the most well built .22lr handguns that there is. The smaller sights can take a little bit to get used to. Other than that they are superb little .22 handguns.
oh i believe it. i will keep my eyes open for a inexpensive specimen that may pop up someday.
IDF been using a suppressed 10-22 for decades mainly for knee shots to take a suspect for interrogation.
That first one would be an awfully nice compliment to my .25ACP 950 BS Jetfire.
