i’ve never been on firearmland before… is it a reputable site?
Grand power makes 22lr hadguns
Sorry Steve l just now read your question. They are a seller on gunbroker
no worries. thanks for the answer.
I just got another one of my Beretta M71 back from being nickle boron plated. I already had one Beretta M71 hard chrome plated. The nickle boron m71 I also got a new set of grips that I had to put a few coates of clear on. They match the nickle boron plating better than the old grips. Overall I think that she is now one classy lady. In the last picture you can see the hard chrome plated M71 with other of my M71. The last picture also has a 6" barrel M71 with a rear adjustable sight that I also picked up a few months ago.
Awesome representation of the M71! I also diggin on your “ready rack” of punches and what-not. Ah ha and a Lucas CLP user too!
Thanks Kevin, I can’t stand having an unorganized desk to work it. I have several more wood organizers now that have a bunch of my small files. The organizers really make it a lot easier and faster to get the tool that you need. I love the little Beretta M71. It really is one of the nicest and well made little .22lr handguns. With the new CCI Uppercut defense .22lr ammo it isn’t something to dismiss as a mouse gun. No recoil at all, small, light, easily concealable and 8 rounds on tap ready to go makes it viable for a person with arthritis, carpal tunnel or weak hands. The slide is also very easy for anyone to rack the slide unlike some other small semi autos.
I enjoy seeing other armorer benches on here and in person. My bench is multifunctional in the shop with no chair. My main weapon tools are in a 1930 " leatherette " Gerstner & Sons machinists box. In the safe room l do get to sit at a desk. I really like your setup ![]()
As for Beretta…
They built the new plant 13 miles south of me. Friend of mine has twin boys that work there, one works the 92 line and the other A300/400
shotgun line. The APX, Nano, Pico and ARX 100 built there too from what l understand.
I have always drooled over the large old wood and felt Gerstner & Sons machinists box. If I really had a practical place and use for it I would definitely have to find one. As it is right now I have enough large drawers in my Craftsman desk and Craftsman side tool box to keep things organized. I do know that many Gerstner & Sons boxes have become family heirlooms passed down over the generations.
I think that you can see from my picture that I have everything that I use the most organized at arms reach. I went ahead and spent the money on a really nice comfortable mesh office chair that you could literally sleep in if you had to. It is that comfortable. The cushion in the chair is fron when I had that large decubitus ulcer from when I was in the hospital and on the ventilator from COVID.
That’s what I’m talking about! Super organized armorer for sure! And it shows in your work too! Bless you for what you went through brother.
I’m itchin to tell you about that box my now diseased wife brought home about 12 yrs ago. Found it at a “Cares” store like a Goodwill, for $20 and it was freakin full!!! It emidiately was talking to me. Then l opened it up…loaded with Starrett! I kept some, my youngest son back then going on his 3rd yr apprenticeship as a tool maker got what he needed. What you see l got to keep. Box is missing hardware, incorrect handle, showing years of wear…l ask myself “if it could only talk since new”. Mitutoyo included tells me it was used not too long ago. What a historical piece she brought home that day for little money. True story brother.
Even the water decal remains
Heckuva find!
That is freaking awsome. I can attest to how much that I have had to pay for some of those exact same items. On the other hand my son being a BMW mechanic is always on the lookout for me for any new or good condition used specialty tools. Every so often he surprises me with something. I have a little of everything Matco, SnapOn, Shopsmith, Starrett, old Craftsman tools, Stanley and a lastly my Mitutoyo digital calipers. I also have tools from my great uncle, grandfather and some of my dad’s tools. Those tools are very valuable to me. They will all go to my son.
You sir are blessed… we both are. With sons that know our taste. I built and gave them guns all their life. In return they got our “6”. Raised right or lick your wounds. Ancestry hand me downs, gotta few. My most cherished is stone.
L to R all Norton…l purchased new in 1978, next block my Uncles, long block my grandfather’s who taught me how to hone a knife.
My dad didn’t have those type of things. How to run a Cat D4D @ 7 years old; how to recap a gas well that the well head blew off without causing a bunch of drama? Now that’s a different question.
you keep talking like that about it im gonna have to end up finding me one to buy.
maybe one day i will clean my bench up enough to take a photo of so i can show it off some. lol
hey greg that is a good looking little work shop area for building man.. very nicely done.
i’ve really got to get some sharpening stones… ive got some pocket knives that just are begging for a good sharpening.. i havent done it in years.
Steve,
Did you ever get that Marlin 20 bolt to into battery? I just got a mdl 25 bolt for a project for my son. 20 and 25 bolts l understand are the same.
actualyl not yet, i had given it to guitar guy to have a buddy of his check it out. what i think it is is the extractor spring… thats what gg’s buddy came up with as well as gg… so when i get it back i think im gonna have to unpin the barrel and then pull it apart. remove the old extractor spring and put a new one in it… that sh ould fix it… (alot of the marlin forums say the same thing aobut my issue… thanks for asking about it though,.
Come on Steve I am trying to inspire you. Enlist that great wife of yours to help.
Right now I still have to clean up the rest of my gun room. Packing up my large Pelican boxes today so I have stuff scattered all over the place.
You inspire us all brother
