Currently optic shopping for my 10.5 build. Really leaning towards a trijicon MRO HD on a scalar mount. Trying to keep a smaller and lighter footprint for the gun in the truck and with it for home defenses use if needed. Thoughts?
What optic you running and why? And what’s the setup? (Pistol or rifle along with barrel length)

I used a sig lpvo 1-4x24 because it was on sale. It turns out that i really like it. Probably would have been ok with an mro, but a lpvo is easier on my eyes (insert age-related complaints here). 4x isn’t all that much magnification, but it’s a lot better than 1x for scouting - even if it won’t likely be used past 150 or 200 yards. I have the 10.5" barrel for now and looking at maybe getting a 16" upper pretty soon.
I have both 16in and 10.5in guns. I have the Primary Arms GLx 2x ACSS Prism on the 16in and I personally think its a great fit for that barrel length, I shoot 2-gun with it and the optic does great, target distances from 1yd/point blank to 50-60yds and it works really well for me in that. On the 10.5in, I have Primary Arms SLx 1x ACSS Micro Prism mounted on a A2 carry handle and I really like the high-mounted position of the optic, very “heads-up”. The chevron reticle in the ACSS optics is awesome in my opinion, and I like having the same reticle for both guns.
I have 3 rifles shooting the 7.62x39. That “Ballistic Plex” reticle on the Leupold scopes is a perfect match for the 7.62x39. Zeroed at 100 with hold over marks at 150, 200 & 250.
The “Hog Plex” has the same hold over marks.
The bullet drop on the 7.62x39 is significant….so the extra hold over points make those long shots easy.
What is hard ………is judging distance while in the field (without a rangefinder).
Plus the added benefit….both of those scopes have the red dot .
Leupold VX-R 1-4 or the VX-R 2-7…fire dot with ballistic Plex or Hog Plex
On the stock of my bolt gun…is a diagram of the Reticle & the hold over points for extended ranges….and the aiming point where my subsonics impact at 100

Haven’t acquired the optic yet, but just got my hands on a 10.5 KS and plan is to get a PA MD-25 with their ACSS reticle on it. I put one of those on my grab-n-go AR in front of a vortex micro 3x magnifier and I am madly in love with it. I’ll be adding pics to the main thread when I get her all dressed up.

I originally had a 10.5” barrel, but the loss in velocity made the setup useless beyond 300yds. I was having to use the 450yd hold for a 300yd target hit, 700 for 500 and over 800 for 600. I have since upgraded to 13.7” (I think… - it may be 12.5”)
Whatever you get, you will find that you will have more magnification than warranted for the reach of that 10.5” sbr.
Ffp or sfp? I’ve got the FFP. Amazing
