Getting myself a present for making it through a little legal thing that happened. One last splurge before the belt gets tight. Part of me wants to get as close to “correct” as possible, but I know I’ll probably just be changing half of the easily swapped bits anyway. Anyone care to nominate a candidate? I’ll wait for restock if it’s a compelling argument for one currently sold out.
Edit: before this gets derailed, everybody is fine. Just a lot of paperwork.
Edit 2: title now more appropriate, in light of recent reminder that guns are pokemon and I gotta catch em all
I’d say Start at the beginning and go from there. A Forged Receiver and chambered in
7.62x39 .
My two AK’s are as Close to Military Issue as I could get them. I even made my own dye to capture the Red tint of Soviet Era wood furniture.
They are afterall the most mass produced weapon in history…and still bringing Hate and Discontent all over the world without Polymer or Aluminum add on’s dangling from every inch of available real estate.
Good points, but I’m chasing a 101 specifically this time. I [may or may not] have [one or more] kalashnikov pattern shooters already, but none are 5.56 rock n lock. I’m more trying to decide if i want to get the bare bones version and make it more “me”, or just grab one that psa has already gamer-fied and have less unused parts lying around. Filling holes in the collection, if you will.
I got my historical accuracy fix from a yugo m72b1 kit build a few years ago. All steel and wood on that one.
Gamer-fied lmao. Honesty I just made this decision for a 7.62 103. Getting the version with aftermarket parts is what I got, reason being that the black Polymer furniture is cheaper than an Mlok handguard. So if I ever wanted to go for the classic 103 look, I have that option. But mines gonna be an American bastard all the way.
Get a bunch of ammo and when you think its enough, get more. I will never get cheaper.
I still cringe when I see 400+ per k of steel cased.Long gone are the days of 20 rds for 2.99
I remember paying 24 cents for steel 223 not all that many years ago. And eventually I’m sure I’ll be telling my kids of the days back when 5.56 was not only available to anyone but you could get it for “only” 40 cents a pop. Who knows what it’ll cost in 10 years, assuming one doesnt need special permission to even buy it at all.
But yeah, got a few cans laden with a few calibers. Take nothing for granted.
Edit: to the origonal point, I settled on the base “classic” model. I’ll tinker as I go and keep original parts in a bag if I ever want to go back, though thats never been the case before.
