11th-graders in public schools in Vietnam are all taught how to disassemble and reassemble AK-47s

Granted, that Could be a Useful Camouflage-Skill in Suburban Warfare….

Yeah, except there’s nowhere to hide anything except maybe a mouse gun.

Ummm, my goatee destroys that idea, but hey I’m thinking a Rock stuffed into a “boulder holder”, hmmmm.

Wow… in the early 90s in High School where I’m from. People were packing knives, pistols, Tec-9s, Uzis, sawed off gauges. Not just the gang bangers but even the white kids were packing major heat. Every clique around had a burner at the ready or extremely close and accessible it was just normal to see people packing in school.

I couldn’t imagine seeing guns in the back windows of trucks. All you’d see is a parking lot full of busted out glass and a bunch of people wondering where their rifle went

Things actually calmed down later in the 2000’s. But the 90s was off the hook.

To be honest the last time I’ve seen a real authentic Uzi was in High School. The Asian gangs had ridiculous weaponry. Lmao

Ironically shootings were not that high. They happened here and there. Everyone knew everyone was strapped and nobody did much. Gangs did their drivebys and stuff but that was for the most part at night away from the school.

So yeah, for me it’s hard to fathom guns in the windows in trucks at school. My environment was more of the under the seat variety of people

wow. i cant image that environment. down here in Lexington SC… where in Cali was this of yours? even my earlier years in elementry school in the DC suburbs were not bad with guns in the schools in the late 80’s from what i can recall…

Orange County, right next to Los Angeles County. Those were the years (early 90s) when Gangster rap really took off. The movie “Colors” came out a little earlier in 88’. “Boys in the Hood” in 91’. “Menace to Society” in 93’. Everyone wanted to be a Gangster around that time. Gangs were just normal. The LA riots hit in 1992. Guns were cheap and plentiful after the looting. They were already cheap and plentiful beforehand, but that made it even more lol. Black and Mexican gangs were widespread in LA and in OC there was the same but we had quite a bit of Asian gangs to add to the mix since Orange County had a large Asian population. It died off towards the end of the 90s thou.

Moved to Riverside County at 18 years old (1994) LA, OC and Riverside Counties all border each other… There was places I wouldn’t drive through when we first moved there, but 20 years later I’d walk though the same neighborhood and never worry.

In the old days it was all about territory and neighborhoods and race and it was dangerous. Today its all about money and drugs. Gangs aren’t really gangs like they used to be back then. Times changed drastically.

Edited, because I posted prematurely on accident

I graduated from Summerville in '07 and they did not, but both my parents went to the same school and had it during their time.

In 1973 It was normal for me and my buddies to have a CASE of 22 wildcats , several 22’s and our shotguns stored in the trunk of the car. NEVER a thought about it ever. Hunting or plinking after school was normal.

One of the many failures of the American educational system is “Basic Firearms Safety” should be taught, mainly the “4 Rules of Shooting,” so even if your Anti-Gun you have a basic understanding of how to safely handle a weapon. But while we are bitching where is Homec, Civics, Personnel Finance, and Basic Automotive…

i cannot agree more. those and basic firearm safety in a modern society such as ours should be mandatory. The fact that none are really tells how much we care about the future generations being independent when they graduate. its quite sad.

The simple fact is, they don’t want your kids to think and be Independent. Haven’t for a very long time now.

sadly you’re right. having your child living in your home till 30 is seeming to be the norm these days… its really quite sad how much our government has fostered a society of dependence so much that it is not only the norm, but is something that is expected and proud of.

The Vietnamese celebrate their various holidays. The AK and the revolution is their history. They are on very good relations with the US. They have a tourist industry. Veterans travel there.

I actually had a Vietnamese friend in High School. The day he turned 18 he bought an SKS at the local gun shop. His dad about slapped the living you know what out of him. He flipped his lid and said the SKS is a VC gun and no VC gun will ever be in his house, period. My buddy made me take the rifle to my house until he could sell it

It is in all communist countries. All males 18-25. If you are allowed to attend college, it is 18-27. One year on duty. It is a method for political indoctrination and for determining who is permitted to attend university and advance in political standing.

In the US communist indoctrination happens in schools and especially college, particularly in blue states. In the 90’s Germany and Sweden for sure , because I served along side them in uniform - those countries required two years of military service if you attended public school. In Sweden for men and women alike. Don’t know about other countries.

Schools dont indoctrinate communists. A political smoke screen. A subject brought up to divide further to pander up some outrage snd votes. Knowing quite a few teachers its a total insult. By the time its over we will have sacked our own freedoms. I dont drink the cool aid. Undermining beleif in long standing institutions has been a move used many times before by those that seek power. So far we are villifying , police, doctors, teachers, amuzment parks, books, every social and religious isue that can feed the divide and pushing isolation as good idea. We end up living on a globe with no allies and no faith . The big test of this great experiment is not disinigrating ino chaos. Rome eventually disinigrated and mussolini ruled over its very ancient ruins. JMHO
