1911 Refinishing

Can anybody make a recommendation for a cerakote or similar finish shop?
I have a Colt series 70 that is nickel plated that I would like to have stripped and made black, or something not shiney. I also have a Delta Elite stainless that I am thinking about making the slide flat black.
I would need someone competent to do a turn key job.

What state are you in?

If you have a “Colt” Series 70……having it Re-finished probably will diminish it’s value.
That said……if you must refinish it……whatever your reasons may be….go over the options with a Good Gunsmith before surrendering your Colt to the guy who is applying Ceracoating. You may learn that traditional finishes on your Colt will help it retain its value.
If it’s a “Colt”….ceracoating it may give you the appearance you are looking for…but it will certainly diminish its value.
Good luck with your project. Post some pictures of it when you have completed it.

South Carolina upstate.

Amick’s in West Columbia. They are near the airport. That’s a drive for you but they are the best in the state.

I didnt know Amick’s did refinishing like that. I’ll have to check them out. I’ve heard really good things out of Coastal Cerakote, they are out of Bluffton, but I know you can ship to them if needed.

When I bought the MK IV in 1984/85 it had wrap around Pachmayr combat grips and just always looked kind of cheesy. Since I put the walnut grips on,(which I made myself) it has kind of grown on me.
I still think the Delta would be badass with a flat black slide.
