Good company for complete rebluing?

Have a blued gun with finish wear that develops surface rust. I keep cleaning it off, but that only digs further into the bluing.

I’d like to get the weapon bead blasted clean and completely hot salt reblued and polished, anyone got a recommendation for a trusted place? I don’t know where to begin looking.

unfortunately i dont know of any professional companies, other than like if it’s a colt revolver say, you could send it back to colt to have it refinished…

I have a norinco 1911, that was blued like your gun, and it was worn really bad. However i have a friend, who knows another guy, who is old school gun collecting/working on. He has blueing tanks and what not, and so i asked my buddy if he’d take it over there and bead blast it and reblue it. he did, in fact he had to do it twice cause the first time there was an issue. the end result is beautiful though and i cannot be happier with the results to the bluing of the pistol. I wish i was that talented and had the facilities to be able to reblue my own stuff myself, but sadly i didnt and dont. so short of asking around to friends of friends, or maybe asking your local GS about who theyd recommend I dont know any that are mail order type reblueing companies. best of luck my friend.

Guys doing real bluing are hard to find. TY

Thanks for that recommendation. I’d actually consider getting this gun done in nickel since I don’t care one bit about the resale value and I love shiny things.

i had a steel Para frame sent somewhere in Florida, in the 1980s so maybe it was the Fords place.
i had it hard chromed but i had to remove any finish AND the, i guess, casting marks. i used a whet stone.

Called my old FFL and the gunsmith there actually told me he has the capability to bead blast clean and has the tanks to do hot bluing. For that with a high polish finish locally with him would cost about the same as a full on nickel plating job with the Ford’s link above.

So now I’m at a crossroads. Reblue the weapon and support a semi-local small business, or go for the finish I think I’d like more but with far longer turnaround and shipping/etc.
