Because I have only owned a 'rinco a1 clone, tell me more about project 1911 builds.

If you like hand fitting every single part of a gun, using files, sandpaper, lots of time and patience…then you will love building a 1911.

Buy a kimber, got it

Upon further research im going to have to do another 45. The breech face on this slide is not compatible with 10mm. I could probably make it work but would rathet have a slide specifically cut for 10mm.

If i ever get sick of building striker fired guns, this will be my next hobby. How expensive are these?

now that is funny… lol I like kimber as much as the next guy, but they’ve been known in the past to have a bad habbit with rusty barrels. so sad. Just wait, PSA is coming back into the 1911 game from what ive been hearing.

The few kimbers I have tried weren’t mine, but they were buttery smooth. I suppose its similar to having a friend with a boat. All the benefits without the upkeep.

oh dont get me wrong, i have a few kimbers and love them too, but i guess my point was, every manufacturer has its issues, and while they are good, they’re no where near the best.

Depends solely upon the parts you buy. Slide and frame combo usually 250-300 depending on manufacturer.

About 10% ahead, but doing 2. His and hers.

I like the looks of a Stainless Pistol as much as anyone , yet they do present some difficulties to build.

Watching one of Larry Vickers videos , he told a story of building one on his downtime with Delta /CAG . Stainless is harder to work just for starters. The other issue is called Galling.

Galling is where Two Metals of same hardness rub together and Fuse, essentially Cold Weld to one another and shear away at themselves.

The Offset to the above is using Dis-Simular Metals as many brands do , or use Stainless of differing hardness factors that will wear independently of one another.

I’m sure GG knows this… but many interested and wanting to learn , need to know these things learned from real Pro’s like LAV.

Good Luck. I hope it spells winner from the start.
