So TFBTv just released a thousand round review video, to say they were impressed is putting it mildly. Especially with the fact they got the Rock for around $350. The video is worth checking out, either way it’s always good seeing PSA getting good press & reviews.
I watched that early this morning.
Love James and Hop at TFB TV
Maybe I’m crazy but I think hop is about as fun as watching paint dry.
You should try watching grass grow. It is just as entertaining as watching paint dry. ![]()
I like how they’re 180° apart
Watched it yesterday and enjoyed the puns. When reading the YouTube comments, I see a couple of people asking if PSA ever thought about chambering the Rock in .22 TCM? I think it would be a great compliment to the 5.7x28 Rock, and should be able to utilize the existing Rock magazines.
Isn’t 22 TCM based on 9 mm casing?
I hear they watch the grass dry in China.
My brother has been thinking about a 5.7. I think I’ll get a Rock frame for him as a gift, so he’ll have to commit. ![]()
Yeah I feel like that would be single stack in a 5.7 mag at most. And I really don’t think it would feed well.
You make .22 TCM from 5.56 brass- cut it down and resize the neck to make the COAL mush shorter. The change is abrupt, and even if you anneal you still lose 1/10 casings to split necks. Even though, it is a wonderful cartridge to shoot, just not enough guns chambered for it.
You can load magazines designed for 5.7x28 with .22TCM, and the recoil impulse is only slightly bigger than 5.7 so there shouldn’t be much in the way of engineering to do for a conversion.

Thanks for showing us the proof, Russerman! I’m a proponent of .22 TCM because I used to own a PS90, and reloaded for it. The brass is proprietary, being created from a super long .25 ACP rimmed case. The .22 TCM is simple enough to make brass for, and standard projectiles for 5.56 are everywhere. The shortened version- .22 TCM9R- can only use the 39 grain (.22 Magnum) projectiles to keep the OAL short enough to fit in standard 9mm magazines.
I’m not going to lie- every caliber has it’s problems- and the .22 TCM 9R seems to have extraction problems with the shorter barrels I’ve used it in. I don’t hear of many people having problems with the standard .22 TCM out of a 1911 frame. That’s why I think the Rock would be a great foundation for a conversion barrel to .22 TCM!
Welcome to the forums @doctorglock glad to have you with us.
So .308 fits perfectly in single stack. Is there any pistol caliber that uses that casing? This feels like it could be a 50 beowulf but for the Rock.
Well if you want to resurrect it, the 44 Automag cartridge is made from 308 cartridges. Could be fun to bring back the Dirty Harry gun ![]()

That’s perfect. It’s even the same length as 5.7. I’ve got to buy a box of this now.
