Official PSA ar15 picture thread

[20210518_122211_HDR] Mid length AR with Magpul furniture in all black built from a stripped Anderson lower. EPT trigger included with the kit. My first ever AR build and actually my first ever firearm! Never owned own prior to this and love this one. tiny mag is due to living in NY-istan and not being allowed to have standard mags, because commie legislators. Would move, but stuck here for job and family. Still works, even if I have to reload more often.

Curious about using this kit to run 300 blackout

It depends on the type of ammo (really the type of gun powder) you use. Generally speaking 300 BLK works best with pistol length gas in all barrel lengths. Sometimes there will be cycling issues due lack of back pressure with carbine and mid length gas systems.

5.56 Barrel Length

If you look at studies of the muzzle velocity vs. barrel length, you can see that it is non-linear, and so at shorter lengths (10.5-12.5) you get more return on increased velocity for a little bit more barrel. Supposedly opting for 11.5 over 10.5 gets you a little more dwell time in the cycling and a little more velocity and so some people opt for that extra inch.
