5.7 Rock and 27gr ammo

Ok I have a 57 Rock with an optic cut slide. I can zero my sight with 40 gr ammo but with 27 gr it impacts 12 to 18” high at 25 yards. I can not adjust the sight low enough to have a poi/poa. I tried 3 different models of RDS. Now my SW 57 is fine I can zero with Esther bullet weight. I was told to buy a bit of plastic to angle the sight but it didn’t fit. Customer service wasn’t any help

Cut to shape and peel it down to what puts you back on center.

I have a 9mm Scorpion that I was running a Vortex Venom on. Same issue, I couldn’t adjust the dot low enough. I 3D printed a thin wedge to go between the optic and it’s pic rail mount. Did the trick. I think I was actually trying to zero at too short a range though. I ended up swapping the Venom to my newly acquired Dagger and haven’t picked a new optic for the Scorpion yet to see if it needs a wedge too.
What pattern optic are you running on the Rock?

Holosun 407k, EPS and then a EPS Carry. Same issue on all

I don’t own a 3d printer, unfortunately.

So those are all based on the RMS/SMS standard more or less and are direct fit on the Rock’s slide with no adapters needed, right?
I don’t own an RMS compatible pistol to check the fit but the pattern is posted online. I can print a shim based on the posted dimensions and mail it? You might need to file it a bit to fit the optic cutout but my printers are pretty accurate.

a very small wedge is all thats needed

Correct. I’d just use the same angle I used on my Vortex but in the RMS pattern and print it at a very low layer height to get as smooth a finish as possible. Can’t go too thick or the sight won’t have a good purchase on the pins. I wouldn’t want to rely on the screws alone to hold it in alignment under recoil.

Thanks let me know if I owe ya anything.

Just pm me your mailing address and I’ll have a go at printing it.

I used the dimensions off a drawing on the internet and printed 3 in Black PLA and 3 in gray PETG. The PLA prints thin parts like this cleaner but the PETG tolerates a little more temperature. They’re 0.4, 0.5, and 0.6 degrees of angle. My Scorpion shim was 0.5 so I went a little under and a little over to give you a range. If 0.6 isn’t enough I can always print another one. I’ll get them in the mail next week.

dude you rock. Thanks

Do you have the STLs posted somewhere?

No, I don’t have it up anywhere . I used to post .stl’s on Thingiverse with the Creative Commons non-commercial requirement. Then I found my work being sold on ebay and etsy. Ebay immediately removed the listing when I contacted them, etsy told me that they couldn’t prove it was mine and left it up. I contacted the seller but they never responded. Not really worth a legal battle and I don’t lose any sleep over it but it discouraged me from posting models.

You’re welcome!
You’ll have to let us know how they fit and if they helped?
