Picked up my Rock a couple weeks ago… had a local guy here in NE Florida make a Paddle holster for it… now it’s time for adding the Optic… hoping I could see some of y’all’s choices, Pros/Cons… Would like to install one that wouldn’t require using the adapter plates and still stays within the slide width. Thanks in advance!

The Holosun 507K X2 mounts perfectly without the need for an adapter plate. It has a very low profile and weight ( to insure reliable ejection ) and has three different selectable reticles. It’s also available with either red or green reticles.
Be aware that the M4 mounting screws included with the 507K are 8mm in length and will bind on the top of rear trigger assembly when tightened down making ejection totally unreliable if not impossible. The screws need to be shortened to be no longer than 7.1mm to be tightened down without binding.
I got the Holosun 407K X2. Same as above only 6 MOA dot only which is a con versus the 507 previously mentioned. Very happy with it, no impact on reliability.
That mag’s loaded 24, I know the look, lol.
all 9 of my mags load 24 and work perfectly baby!
Just to put it out there, similar to the Dagger, the screws that come with A Holosun K are too long for the Rock as well.
Thanks for the tip on the screws!
I brought up the screws being too long on the Holosun because the Greenville store apparently didn’t know either, they installed my Holosun 407K for free as they do for any optic bought there. Out of an abundance of caution from the Dagger thread I removed the Holosun prior to removing the firing pin assembly today. Sure enough both sides of the polymer housing were damaged and 2 little pieces of plastic fell out.
How did ypu shorten the screws to thw 7.1mm?
I filed them down. Didn’t use calipers or anything like that. Enough that the plastic housing from the firing pin assembly slid freely.
There are three ways. 1) Use a belt sander. 2) Take two nuts and screw them down and lock them together leaving .9mm of the screw exposed and use a file to remove the exposed .9mm of the screw. Or 3), the way I did it. I purchased an 8PK-CT009 Multi-Purpose Pliers Crimping Tool Metric Size Wire Cutter Cable Stripper From Amazon for $22. A little costly but cut the screws perfectly without damaging the threads
I used Bigaltyson‘s 3rd method.
I have a Shield Sight RMSw. It’ s the same width as the slide. It fits perfectly straight to the slide.
Here’s where to find all info on slide footprints and what optics fit.
Interested in Your holster. Got a Manufacturer Webpage?
Thanks for the link! The holster maker is located just South of Jacksonville, FL. His FB Page is below:
He did some great work for me and is doing a couple other holsters for friends.
Thanks, hard to find any OWB for Lefty’s. Will get in touch with him.
Depending on what you want it made for, he has several molds/pistols that he can use. If you are planning on a Rock, let me know and he can use mine to mold your holster. Just let me know!
Took a dive into my first optic on a pistol ever, thanks to recommendations in this thread. I really like shooting it with the optic. I had some very nice groups out to about 25 yards using a rest. My old eyes are now believers! Also thanks very much for the heads up about the Holosun screws being too long, I would have buggered my new gun right up without the warning. It was dead on out of the box at around 20 yards using SS197SR ammo, however SS198LF POI was shifted about 5-6" up!

I read the “Giveaway” post, you like it better than the FN? I’ve shot all 3 now and IMO the Rock is the leader of the pack. The Ruger just didn’t feel ready for prime time. Horrible trigger. Ergos are better than the FN for me.
