First, I’ve no experience with any 1911 other than my issued sidearm in the Army 70s-80s time frame. I’m thinking I would like to buy one for the experience and fun, not a daily carry but I don’t want a finicky model either. Now my questions:
What is the difference between a Stalker and a Night Raider?
Is 5" model more accurate?
Is there a reason to pick 9mm over .45 or vice versa?
I noticed that Tisas is coming out with a double stack 9mm. Is there ongoing to be any double stack. 45s?
One last question…should I consider a PSA Admiral instead of a Tisas?
The Tisas basic 1911A1 5" service model 45 is going to be similar to what you would have been issued in the Army.
The night stalker would be a combination of the above pistol with upgraded modern features and higher cost.
The military was phasing out the 1911 but some special units didn’t want it to go away. The Marines and Colt came up with the M45A1.
The Raider is a reproduction of it.
Accuracy out of a 5" barrel vs others is subjective.
9 vs 45 in my opinion only. If it’s not 45 it’s not a 1911
I have no input on the double stacks.
Admiral vs Tisas. I would consider both.
Admiral Standard $399 on sale now.
Tisas A1 $329 on sale now. Forged frame and slide
9mm is vastly superior in about every way, especially the double stack models are basically the peak of pistol technology still. unless you shoot +p which most 1911 can’t handle. then… the 45acp +p actually leaves the biggest hole ive seen from a glock, bigger than my 10mm
I have the TISAS 1911 A1 .45 PISTOL 5", BLACK - 1911A1S5 My only regret is the fixed Black on Black sights (I’m getting old for last century’s iron sights)
If you are over 50 I think you want good or replaceable sights. Otherwise if you want the 1911 experience the Tisas line is a wonderful way to have a 1911 to plink with.
TISAS seem to have other models that do have better and replaceable sights, I just don’t own one.
That said I really like the pistol, I’m just limited to old guy speed on targets out past 7 yards or so.
My opinion on the 5" being more accurate than a shorter barrel there probably isn’t enough inherent accuracy to be noticeable but the longer sight radius of the longer barrel should make it a bit more accurate to shoot. My only experience with a Tisas is my 10mm which I love.
At least until yesterday Bass had the same in Federal for 37 cents each! I know I can order it, but I got my gun this afternoon and ammo in S. Carolina does me no good!
