AAC 40gr Vmax Velocity Data

This was done in 32F temps. Velocities and associated data could change depending on temperature increase. Some powders are temperature sensitive. I am not sure what powder AAC is using. I have ran a total of 600 rounds of AAC 5.7 across 12 Variants of 5.7 guns, save the M&P 5.7 If someone has a contact to get my hands on one, it would greatly help the community

I have the full review of this in the works, but for now if those who are curious as to what to expect velocity wise. That review will include gel testing !

Thanks, nice, the AAC hangs right in there…looking forward to
the gel and group result from a 4.7 and 5.2.

Gel testing to include the 5.2, 10.4, and 16". I didn’t do the 4.7, as it’s pretty close if not under the threshold needed for the Vmax to do anything

Awesome!

Just forwarded to my FFL. He is looking at picking up a Rock. His dad has the Ruger 5.7.

trying to understand this Federal American Eagle
I suspect Federal isn’t the mfg. here because the head stamp
has among other marks ā€˜FNB’ ( Fabrique Nationale Herstal,
Belgium), the packaging is identical to Speer, Fiocchi and FN except ink and print.

This was all pretty much covered on another thread. IIRC Fiocchi ā€œassemblesā€ pretty much everything except for EA, Vanguard and now AAC.

right it was, but no conclusion as I recall…I sure like to decide on
a cartridge without spending thousands and years doing so…It will
be good to see the AAC hope to see their FMJ soon too. This Buffman is
pretty good when he opines toward the end (like good opinions)…I’d ask what his 5" goto
pistol is loaded with?

Does Fiocchi ā€œ assemble ā€œ R&R as well since you didn’t include them in your exception list ?.

@Buffman-RANGE is way more deserving of the handle than I am.

Apologies for that. Work is horrible RN and I tried to remember as many as I could.

No problem. These four seem to be the best Self Defense 5.7x28 Ammo Manufacturers on the market right now.

Seriously considering ā€œPeace - Outā€ where I work. I like to fix things but damn they have so many long term sub-standard performers. and the labor shortage and a turf war over a director being brought in from CA rather than an internal promotion. And OBTW the new Director sucks as well and their rules are jacked up. I watched people take training to promote on company time that they ā€œrequireā€ you to take on your own time. I won’t do it based on principle. I can smoke most of the level 3s and several level 4s yet I remain level 1 and am happy with that.

If you’re good at what you do they can’t take you off the front lines to train??? Insane.

SS197, AE TMJ, Speer Gold Dot, and Fiocchi’s Hyperformance and Range Dynamics are all loaded by Fiocchi USA. That’s confirmed. AAC brass is of their own. Vanguard is now of their own as well. R&R uses FN brass from ammo they buy and pull down, and or old stock of EA’s brass from years ago (hence the EA headstamp). EA uses pulled down brass as they lost capital to continue to fund the presses that made their brass.

FN themselves in Belgium loads, SS190, L191, SB193, SS195, SS198LF, FR199.

Fiocchi Italy loaded SS190 at one time for a contract and it bears the GFL headstamp.

S&B prototyped 5.7 brass that somehow made it to the open market. It’s not coated and has documented case failures. It’s shown up in the US, but was super expensive in 2020, and the seller wanted me to buy the whole lot. S&B denies the existence of this ammo, but even users in France were buying it at shops to shoot, and then reported the case failures…

Thanks for the update Buffman, was suspected for
our US market but many saying Federal/Vista is on
their own but with the FNB head stamps and identical
packaging I’m going with your version til proven otherwise.
There’s going to be others I’d think soon with Ruger and
S&W jumping in… you know how it goes.
I heard something about the US really pressuring the ammo
industry by ordering billions of rounds in an effort to curb
citizen consumption.

How would encouraging more production by increasing sales curb consumption?

And who’s doing all the ordering exactly?

Yes, IRS did purchase nearly $700,000 in ammo in early 2022 | verifythis.com inb4 IRS

They’ve done it before. It wouldn’t be a shocker if they did it again.

I don’t remember the year, but the Department of Homeland Security ordered tons of ammo in the past and it made ammo hard to find and the prices went up.

Things to keep in mind.

  1. a large purchase may stop all other caliber(s) production. It takes time to down the assemby line to change out tooling for the caliber change.
  2. some manufatures may have had a 2nd or 3rd shift on vs 1 or 2 shifts prior to the large order.
  3. runing production around the clock can exacerbate the supply chain. IE the manufacturer is now sourcing more expensive components as the normal supply is not able to meet production needs.

Just my huble thoughts.
