Knew I should have waited!
I bought one on Friday for the standard price!

Edit: Scratch that, I got the RMR one so never mind, should have waited and gotten the normal one though…

I know they are testing. I have a meeting on Dec 30 and well, hoping for a new years present.

The temptation to say ā€˜Merry Christmas to me’ is very great with this one…

May need to block PSA in order to make it through the holidays without needing a new safe. :v: :vulcan_salute:

Will a FN 5.7 upper slide assembly work on PSA 5.7 Rock? I can’t seem to find the answer anywhere. Dagger research immediately shows compatibility to Glock Gen 3 parts, but I can’t ZERO on compatibility to FN 5.7 other than mags are not compatibile.

No. It’s a proprietary platform

PSA is taking the possibility of me owning a 5.7 pistol from ā€œhighly unlikelyā€ to ā€œunlikelyā€, which is remarkable, I think. I still won’t be able to afford to shoot it, but hey, you can’t always have it all.

AAC 5.7 ammo is on track for a January release…

I think people really get overly hung up on the cost of ammo. It’s 30 bucks A box for 50 rounds of 5.7 vs about 20 bucks a box for 50 rounds of 9 mm. All in all it’s about the same as shooting .45ACP, just at twice the velocity (sometimes 3 or 4x). And with AAC bringing out ammo for it, it’s probably going to drive prices down to I’m guessing low 20s.

(Don’t quote me. I’m not affiliated and I have zero inside information)

Oh, it’s not overpriced. I’m just very broke! lol. It’s really not that bad. It’s those 1k price tags I was seeing for other 5.7s awhile back that were disheartening.

Yeah the FN57 is about 3 or 400 bucks more than it should be in my opinion. It’s very nice. I carry one. I love it. It’s great! But I have yet to encounter a good reason why anyone should choose it over the rock for most cases.

For anyone new to the caliber, I would certainly recommend the rock over either of the other pistols.

I impulse bought the frame because of the free shipping, now just waiting to see if the upper will go free shipping, and oh yea, mags… need to pick up those too unless I want a single shot…

Even better price, Just bought the combo Dagger compact and Rock frames for 169 together with free shipping. so figure 85 each for the frames and 200 for the slide/barrel i get a basic a rock for 280. and dagger for less. I already have a dozen mags from the blem package with 10 and the Rock I have. After the holidays it will be slide shopping time!

I agree. At first, I was the same. I’d decided to that I would buy a ā€œtreat myselfā€ gun and was looking hard at an AR10 in .308 as well as the Rock 5.7 and a few others. I was put off by the price-per-round of 5.7 even though I loved everything about the performance of the round and the features of the Rock. Then it hit me that I wasn’t worried at all about the price of .308, even though it has a similar price-per-round to the 5.7. If I was OK with buying .308 for $.80 to $2 per round why should I have such heartburn about 5.7 at $.80 to $2 per round? I shouldn’t.

I already reload for the .308 and, frankly, it’s less finicky. But I’d been loading 9mm Luger using Titegroup powder and that’s the fiddliest darned powder around, with a min/max spread of, literally, 0.4 grains, which is less than the min/max spread for the published 5.7 loads regardless of powder. And it looks like the case prep will be easier for the 5.7 because it’s basically ā€œgentle wash, lightly bottle brush the case mouths.ā€

So, yeah, if someone is OK with shooting .308, 30-30, [fill in the blank] Creedmoor, 10mm, or, you know, pretty much any rifle cartridge not a 5.56, then the 5.7 shouldn’t be that big a deal. We’ve just been spoiled by commodity 9mm.

Peace favor your sword,
Kirk

I’ve been tracking the pricing on 9mm, 5.56/.223 and 300 BO since PSA /AAC has launched and ramped up the Ammo factory, I can’t wait for them to release the 5.7. Their 5.56 punches way above it’s weight!
