Looking to add a picatinny rail to the bottom of my PSA M-4 style carbine and I am wonder what everyone else uses to do so. I have found several add on rails online, but most reviews say they don’t fit PSA forearms. Pardon my sometime silly questions but I have been away from AR platforms for a number of years.
Would help if we had a picture of your gun.
Or maybe a quad rail handguard ?
Thank you for that link. Will look at that.
Tom
hi tom, never hesitate to ask any questions!! what coolwin posted is right, that will work, or the other item he mentioned is a drop in quad rail system. they were very common before folks started going more of the free float route, and many of our military issued rifles used them on the m4 and m16a4 a2 platforms.
something that is 2 piece and splits down the middle that looks like this :
Thank you. Now my question is “how the heck do you get the form arm off the PSA M-4, I had no trouble taking apart my M-16 in the Marines but dang that slip ring on my new rifle is TIGHT! I don’t want to pry on anything and cause damage but need to remove it to install any of the rails I end up with unless they come with some fancy hardware.
yeah those rings are TIGHT and if you dont have the handguard tool, theres a good chance you wont get that thing off. i dont think you’ll hurt it.. either way, but you gotta pull down the delta ring towards the upper receiver enough to slip the upper out of the delta ring itself basically and the tool allows you to do it.
I figured out I need the tool and I will see if the guys at the local range/gun shop will let me use it for 5 minutes or I will end up buying one, I am a Prime Amazon member so I might go that route. Thanks everyone for your help.
the tool isnt too expensive and iirc you can get it off amazon prime if your a prime member and have it tomorrow most likely depending where you live via prime depending how bad you need to scratch that itch lol
