I picked up the PSA 16" CARBINE-LENGTH M4, and was wondering if I had to change the handguard in order to put some kind of foregrip on it.
Thanks

@loxthe yes. You have several options. You can get a polymer drop in like magpul that has mlok slots, or a drop in quad rail. This is the easiest.
Or you can find a free float rail that will work with the stock barrel nut (like Samson) but that might require you to remove the gas block.
A third option is to go completely free float, change (or shave ) the gas block, barrel nut, etc.
You do, I’d recommend buying a drop in handguard. It’s cheap but I purchased a AIM Sports drop in quad rail and I love it and it’s super snug. It was only $21.
You get what you pay for in the fire arm world but I plan on eventually replacing it when what I want is in stock. I didn’t get magpul because I wanted the quad rail with rail covers look.
It’s not a Daniel Defense or anything but it gets the job done for now until the handguard I want is back in stock
I ended up ordering the magpul m-lok handguard and vertical grip.
Solid choice on the fore grip. All of my guns are match guns and I prefer the hand guard; but the fore grip works.
Does the AIM hand rail have a heat shield? Being metal, does it heat up when at the range? I don’t think I want a vertical grip (I might change my mind - I have not held one) but I would like to add a light to my PSA AR.
First time I’ve owned or shot a rifle - built out of PSA kit and polymer 80% lower. (youtube can teach you anything!)
Shoots fine, no malfunctions. About 200 rounds through it so far. Might build an AR pistol someday.
