If anyone owns one of these, I’d like to know if standard AKM furniture and fire control groups fit in it.
Here’s what I got going on. I’ve got a Training Wheels AK (it’s a WASR 10 v2) and I am not happy with it. Despite giving it a better FCG, changing out the godawful Combloc plastic with good stuff from FAB Defense, adding an MCARBO high energy recoil spring, exchanging the “bread loaf twist tie” hammer spring with ALG’s high energy spring, and topping it off with a VG6 brake, I cannot get my groups at 100m under an 8-inch pie plate. That’s with a bipod and an optic,
The rifle is just awful for accuracy. It’s just not a very good gun, the tooling marks on the BCG look like it was carved by an angle grinder. I’ve got a Mini 14 that can outshoot it, for crying out loud.
So, the FN barrel on the -103 and GF5 have me intrigued. What I want to know is if all this AKM gear will fit on an AK-103 (except the brake, the barrel twist rate is wrong).

If you get the PSA AK-103……you really don’t have to do anything to it……performance wise. It is a ultra-reliable feeding whatever ammo you wish to load it with and that FN barrel is more accurate than most of us can shoot. Your upgraded WASR 10 furniture “should” fit.
Your recoil and trigger spring should also fit……but why change the 103’s Springs…? It’s a great performer the way it comes from PSA.
Your WASR muzzle device is a traditional AK thread pattern 14x1 LH. When the Russians developed the 100 series of AKs (they were meant for export) they went with the integrated front sight base/thread of 24x1.5 RH.
If your convinced to sell your WASR….this is a good time to let it go as prices for the WASR have never been higher.
Whatever you do….good luck….and post some pictures of your AK with a description so we can all enjoy it too.
BTW….the original hammer spring is more than enough to do the job. When adding a “high energy” hammer spring, it will hit the primer harder……but it also increases the amount of friction between the trigger sear and the hammer. Making what might be an acceptable trigger……into a trigger that is unnecessarily difficult.
