Hey y’all, Awhile back I posted about some failures to eject I’m having with my PSA AK 74. Ive been shooting “red army standard” red box and white box through it and recently started shooting wolf performance ( I found out that red army standard white box and wolf are both tulammo). After learning that tulammo can be jam prone I’m wondering if I have a recoil spring issue or if this rifle doesn’t like tul. Do y’all have any experience with this? If the rifle is under gassed would changing the recoil spring help? I assume I would need a lighter spring but im not to sure. Any help is appreciated. I recently got 1000 rounds of wolf ( that’s how I found out its tul ammo and still has issues) so I’m trying to see if I can tune the rifle to shoot it, if and when that is one of the issue.
Sometimes it takes some trial and error to find out what ammunition, magazines, accessories, works best with a particular gun. Do some more range trips, trying different types of ammo, then stick to what gives you the best consistency. I definitely wouldn’t send it to PSA for this. You’d likely not get it back for 3 to 6 months, only for them to send it back saying there’s nothing wrong with it. RMAing it should be a LAST Option unless something is physically broken. I also have a first Gen PSA 74 and have never had an issue with it save for what I broke and they fixed. Mine does seem to be a bit heavy on the recoil but I don’t have feeding issues. Perhaps changing your spring could help, but I’d only encourage you to do that after you’re comfortable with the amount of ammo testing you’ve done and nothing else seemed to work. Best of luck.
Thank you. I’m definitely not sending it in. Ive sent i twice for the firing pin issue and last time they had it for 6 months. Ive only put about 300 rnds since i got it back but have had around 30 jams. So im gling to try out my brothers psa ak74 spring to see if theres a difference.
Probably not in correct area having same issues. Every 20 or so rounds I have to mortar rifle to extract casings brass and steel same issues wondering if polishing bolt and carrier would void warranty.
It’s an AK. It should be able to use every popularly available 5.45 ammo. Never heard of a com bloc having trouble with RAS (which is rebranded Tula)
The fact its an AK its SHOULD work on ANY ammo. What I think PSA is doing is that they are NOT making the gas holes correctly…think about it…AK47 what does most people complain about? Recoil…from being over gassed. I noticed how soft my AK101 is shooting from PSA…and I run into TOO many extraction issues for having lass then 500 rounds in the gun
