AK102 light strikes

I recently purchased an AK102 and its immediately showing an issue with light primer strikes. I’ve run 3 different brands of ammo through it, federal american eagle, pmc xtac and winchester white box ammo and its getting intermittent light strikes. I’ve tried to rule out the ammo itself by tossing the lightly struck rounds through my AR and it all fired fine. Does anyone know if the AK102 firing pin is a standard 47 or 74 pin to order a replacement to help narrow down the issue? Other than the light strikes this thing has immediately become my new favorite firearm.

I purchased a PSA AK 101 and experienced the exact same thing. Light primer strikes. I reached out to customer service and the tech tried to blame the ammo. I told them I tried multiple ammo types and they all failed about 2 out of 15 rounds, and that exact same ammo worked fine in my AR-15. They just stopped responding. It’s really unfortunate because the thing shoots like a dream when it freaking works. This was my first PSA gun and I was warned about PSA 1st gen guns and wish I’d listened.

I hate this is happening for you. I have one and it eats anything I feed it. Tula steel, PMP-Denel surplus, IMI, everything.

You could try an extra power hammer spring and see if that fixes it before your start trying to replace a firing pin.

When I originally purchased my AK-102 I too, experienced a few light primer strikes. About 1 or 2 rounds out of a full mag. PSA customer service advised I send the rifle in for them to check it out. I didn’t feel like going through the hassle and waiting. I fully disassembled my bolt. I took the firing pin out. I didn’t see any debris whatsoever inside the channel but I went ahead and blew compressed air through it anyways. I then dropped the firing pin back in and added a few drops of hopps gun oil down the channel and shook the bolt back and forth a bunch to work the firing pin back and forth. And I haven’t had a single light primer strike since. I’m around 1300ish rounds in on my rifle and it’s been flawless since. Maybe worth a try for you and other people experiencing this?
