Just shipped it out yesterday for the second repair. PSA said they replaced bolt and problem was fixed. And it was, for about 7 mags, and then it was acting up again. It’s not the ammo because my PSA AKP and PSA Ak103 ran it just fine. Light primer strike about every 5 round. You could reload it and it would work. Guessing the fire pin is out of spec. Anyone else have this issue? Its on the way to PSA now and hopefully it gets fixed.
I’ve seen a few comments, in the Facebook group, about it, but nothing that would indicate anything wide spread. They all said replacing the firing pin, with a comblock one, fixed it. I keep a spare pin in my range bag, but so far my GF3 hasn’t needed it.
Surely they would’ve checked that when swapping out the bolt last time, right? I would like to think they would have checked all the small things before dropping in a new bolt. Either way its on it’s way back to them to sort out. Thanks for the info anyway
I know that PSA has a good warranty service……but for something ailing your rifle……light primer strikes….seems like an easy opportunity for you to investigate and fix it yourself. Think of the experience you would have trouble shooting and resolving this issue. It could only be a couple of culprits….easy enough to resolve. You would walk with the knowledge & experience that is valuable to you and others that this might happen to.
Hope you have better luck with it when you get it back.
Or i could just let them fix it being that it has never worked properly from the factory. If it had 5k rounds through it, I could understand that your perspective. But it has less than 300 because so…
It’s just me…. As a hobby I tinker with anything mechanical. I haven’t encountered many things that I can’t figure out snd fix. I understand where you stand on this……make them do it correctly!
Maybe some of the PSA staff can chime in here on this?
There’s very little PSA staff here. Customer Service doesn’t have a dedicated presence here. We the forum staff are not PSA employees, so it is best that we refer you to contact customer service so your issue can be properly resolved.
Not trying to be cynical but how can i not. All the other PSA AKs (akv, akp, ak103,ak74) i have are great. How did this get through all the inspections and warranty that we’re at this point? Ive seen the videos on the cqc checks done and the live chats. Id probably buy another PSA AK but this dude has no home here. And did they test fire 3 mags? Ive never had a problem til the gun gets a few mags though it and it gets hot. Guess we’ll see.
I did i was just wondering if anyone else had a second time warranty gun or was i the only one. They replaced the bolt again which leads me to believe thats the standard operating procedure. But this time i got a new firing pin also. So bolt once. Bolt and firing pin twice. What’s number three? New barrel, bolt and firing pin?
Unfortunately with PSA’s volume things will slip through the cracks. Like all companies PSA strives for this to never happen, but reality shows that it does happen. Glad they have you taken care of.
Maybe
Working for an ISO 9001 certified manufacturer for over 10 years, I can tell you parts are not checked 100%.
We checked every 3rd part, charting every critical dimension. To check every single part 100% would add considerable time and cost, and is a rarity in manufacturing.
I am not speaking as to PSAs manufacturing practices, just offering an example of how things sometimes can and do slip through.
Three bolts? On a gun with less than 300 rounds?
@AlexJonesWasRight you can take a break also since you have the same IP address…
