I grabbed a gf5 a little over a year ago, brought it to the range and the firing pin was broken in two shots, they wanted me to send in for repairs, told them I’d replace the firing pin on my own and they tell me it’s out of warranty. Cool psa corporate is a bunch of [redacted] it’s cool. Grab a psa akv recently, first time at the range, firing pin issues, light primer strikes on blazer brass, Winchester white box and freedom munitions ammo, contacted psa, they want me to send this back in to them. Obviously I’m going to void the warranty and replace the pin myself. Here’s my question, how can anyone trust a company to repair their firearms if they can’t send them out in working order to begin with?
O.o
What are you going to do ?
If your going to replace it yourself, then don’t be a cheapskate, buy the part, replace it, and be happy shooting.
If you want PSA to replace it…. Then return it to them.
Your barking up the wrong tree here…… as most of us here on the forum KNOW that PSA will make it right. ……. But they are not going to be sending you replacement parts on a whim for DIY projects.
Part of returning the gun to PSA is for them to verify the repairs and verify that it safely operates.
Freedom…you had better be glad you didn’t blow up your gun.
I have my own aks I’ve built myself, not worried about the money the warranty or the psa shills and reps. They’re telling me that after I purchased to send them my gun back so I can go thru the process again of waiting for it, very not cool. I get that that is “making it right” but Jesus ■■■■ 2 out of the 2 guns I bought they want me to send back??? Not a good track record, and I was really pulling for them too.
Of all the AK builders out there…what brought you to buy from PSA.
If you buy enough guns… inevitably one or more will not live up to your expectations.
It’s part of reality. There are hundreds of thousands of happy PSA customers out there. No manufacturer is perfect… but PSA does have a great reputation for standing behind their products.
Relax, contact customer service, and get your guns fixed. In the mean time stock up on Ammo or pursue something to get your anxiety off of the repair time.
You’ll be happy on the end.
Ok…I said something nice……grrrrrr.
I get that you’re pissed. I’d be as well. But they offered to fix it and you refused. So honestly you picked the situation you’re in. I’d vent and put them on blast also. But, getting nasty and taking shots wont help fix it. To be honest, after 2 bad experiences I’d not buy any more from them. Who could blame you?
Just weeks ago I shelled out 1,500 clams on a “black rain” AR style 9mm carbine with side cocker. First shot, jammed. Second shot, jammed, third shot, jammed. I was absolutely IRATE!!! But hey, crap happens. I contacted them and they covered all shipping costs, fixed the issue in 24 hours and got it back to me. Do I have confidence in the rifle? NO. Will I suggest this model to anyone that asks? NO. But nobody is perfect and they fixed their “mistake”. For 1,500 bucks you’d think those knuckleheads would squeeze off 3-5 test shots before shipping the rifle. I kinda blame myself for not researching and buying a brand I never heard of because the wife and kids said “that’s cool, get that one”. It looks awesome being a white and black Storm Trooper looking gun with a side cocker that takes Glock mags on a AR platform. Not MY style but again, thats what I get for an impulse buy because the family thought it looked cool.
I’ve only bought ammo and parts from PSA so far. Only thing stalling me from a complete build so far is I come from a Quality background as a career and it concerns me PSA has SO MANY "blems’ for sale. With that many blems, I’d start with some retraining and end with some firing. No way in hell I’d run an operation that sells damaged items everyday. But on the flip side I like a deal and I dont care about looks and yes, I wipl buy a Blem someday lmao.
Sorry for your experiences, sorry for my rant as well.
B.R.O.’s got a Range right outside the back door - but only limited time and personnel to walk new firearms out and ping some steel….
(I’ve Offered to come by after work or weekends, to play with their baby ARs…. I’d even do it practically free! - they’re Literally a right turn out of my driveway, then 15-minutes and a left and another left!)
PSA has blems because of the volume they make and sell. Out of thousands of lower and uppers made each week only a handful are blems (made when a drill or but needs changing, a ding in the anodizong, etc.) They save the blems and then have a blem sale. Lots of companies do i lt to cut down on waste. My Geissele lower is a blem due to an anodizing ding.
I discussed on this site about the firing pins being too short. Producing light strikes with some ammo. I swapped for surplus and its been good.
wha…. first i guess im a psa shill… cool whatever at least i know with confidence if i have any issues with my AK i can just send it back and it will be fixed… i have gone out my way to buy blem items to prove a point. mostly that people complain about very petty stuff… do people expect this CS from glock or etc…? i would have never trusted to buy even a single AK being so unfamiliar with them if it didn’t come from psa… people who seem to know so much more also seem to have more problems, and can’t hit the side of a barn door, tbh i don’t know much just that the initial cost of the weapon covering repairs is very honorable.
I got my PSA 74 and this is a new one was soft striking fire primers I could see the problem was because the bolt face was not milled down deep enough . They said send it in but I never got a return shipment label for weeks. SO I bought here bolt carrier trunnion package I’m out another 248 dollars but it fires every time now. I should have gotten a return
My problem while reading this is in 2 parts:
A: If you were concerned about the first firearm and upset about the issue and in turn have “doubts” about psa then why grab another…typically all issues involving a firing pin issue are typically a result of a failure in another area resulting in a firing pin issue…swapping the pin out may not be the “quick fix” ur looking for so yes qc needs the firearm to make a thorough check of components before making a fix, to save you and them the headache of it happening again…im not saying firing pins just dont break on their own, im saying there is reasoning behind it
And B: and B is also in 2 parts. 1. Why come to a psa platform and get upset with the brand if it doesnt matter to you one way or another? And 2. Why would you start name calling and acting like a tool if you want your stuff fixed and in working order? Im a gunsmith by profession and trade and when people bring their stuff to me to fix and they start bashing, badmouthing, and revert to namecalling i simply will not deal with nor do business with people that are like that and ununderstanding.
When you take your car to get warranty work done or your car breaks down and you take it to the dealer, do you badmouth the receptionist just trying to square you away, do you badmouth the service manager thats trying to make sure your car doesnt have anymore issues that require the car to come back?, do you badmouth the tech that gives their all to providing you with the best service he or she can to make sure you get the care you and your car needs? It doesnt take much to be kind and understanding so my advice is to maybe not revert to namecalling and allow psa to do what they were trained to do and what their job description intells and allow them to help you.
Thats just my .02
Yes they shipped out guns with firing pins that were too short! I read another post and decided to measure mine as compared to my kit gun. I ordered a surplus military pin. Before it was light strikes on certain ammo and afterwards it never missed a beat. GF5, I didn’t think it was worth sending in.
Recently purchased an AK-101. First, the rifle they sent was with the wrong furniture, which they made right by offering me a “blem” discount I used towards purchasing the correct furniture. The rifle was shooting fine the first 100 rounds or so, then started to have light primer strikes here and there on multiple different brands of ammo, then the firing pin seized up completely and became nonfunctional . Took the firing pin out of the bolt and reassembled. Looks like the firing pin channel on the bolt face may be a bit deformed. I didn’t notice any debris in the firing pin channel, but did notice quite a bit of brass shavings in the receiver…I contacted PSA two weeks ago and have only received one email response asking for me to send pictures. I have called customer service twice expressing that I just want a shipping label so I can send the rifle in to be looked at, which they said to just hang tight and wait for a response from the warranty department… not cool spending well over a grand on the rifle and having it go down within the first couple hundred rounds, and to still be waiting for approval to send the rifle in. I wanted to support PSA and all that they are doing, but after this I’m not too sure…
Oops! Missed that this thread is old then updated. So to the previous poster, yeah I know its a drag, but just send it in. If in the future it’s a deal breaker good news, its a free country with more choices. At least for now.
