So what do you think is going to happen with ammo prices under our new Trump administration in 2025?
Itās mostly about production and supply, which he doesnāt have anything to do with.
Granted, what he wants to do with domestic energy production should significantly reduce the price of oil and therefore shipping and materials, which should then trickle down to consumer cost, but hopefully thatās more of a āacross the entire boardā savings rather than one tied specifically to ammo.
Tariffs?
Doubt that he will put any on ammo, they are usually targeted or have exceptions. A lot of it depends on if we are trying to restrict an entire country or if we are responding to a particular tariff of theirs. Something like targeting French wines over something they have an import tariff on of ours.
Ammo? Doubt heāll make as much difference as spooling up AAC did. @Don_Keedix as far as gas and oil goes the first step is restore the Keystone Pipeline. The permits and bureaucratic bs that goes along with that neither will happen before mid year 2 or early 3.
Full agree on Keystone but I think heās going to make that a priority of his.
Reduced consumption in Ukraine.
Any of you watch the publicly traded ammo companies? Ammo inc is one i watch regularly. The stock is in the toilet. It gets spikes here and there when big things happen around the world and it has big investors like Richard Childress. And yet it has been on a downward spiral.
Itās expensive to go to the range ,and the kids havenāt started stocking up yet.
Years ago I starting buying 3 boxes every time in the store. Was $25. Next thing I knew I had thousands of rounds.
And thatās a great way to stay replenished.
Iām a firm believer in buying on a consistent basis, even when you donāt need it.
That method also helps with dollar cost averaging which fits my frugality ![]()
It worked well with me. 3 boxes fills 2 mags.
Ammo Inc main holding is gunbroker.com. I just looked at the Yahoo finance page Q1 2025 results discussion. Lost 7 million on revenues of 31 million. Big increase over last yearās loss of 1.1 million. Revenue cost of ammo 19.8 million. Revenue from ammo 18.7. On Q1 this always smells of rot in accounting, when you shift accounts payable to the next year to make the bonus for the ending fiscal year.
They also divided their company up into two entitiesā¦wondering what that means for their future as other ammo manufacturers have explored splits and sells lately.
If we stop going to war, there will be an easing off of prices for a short while as the stock levels go down. Then who knows, maybe competition will kick in and the market will charge what the consumer is willing to pay.
When you can, buy a case of whatever ammo that you need when it is on sale. Subscribe to all of the ammo sights that you buy from so that you are alerted when a sale is on.
Once you get comfortable with the amount of ammo that you have on hand only buy something when it is on sale. You are not buying it to use right then but to put back to build your supply. Also when you buy in bulk it is cheaper. You are also getting the same lot# on all of your ammo that you are buying. Each run or lot# of ammo will have differences between them. When you zero for a specific lot# of ammo your ammo will be more consistent. Granted we are talking about quality ammo. Cheaper ammo generally will have more deviation between the lot# and even each round.
If you are just plinking on the range and not trying to squeeze all the accuracy out of a firearm then it doesnāt really matter that much if you are shooting different lot#.
I actually bought stock in AMMO a few years back thinking with high prices and wars it would run up. Nope, its long gone now.
Simple answer, whatever the market will bare
Its been on a downward slide. Its not bad ammo.
My prediction: Panic buying will subside. Demand will drop, prices will fall. But that will make production drop; so in 4 years when panic buying starts again, there wonāt be enough supply for the demand and prices will jump again.
Time to start buying during the drop. I need 300blk subsonic, 44mag, and 45-70. About 1K of each and I should be happy.
