Oh and my shooting club has classes several times a year, might check on that with any local shooting clubs. That way you meet people also that are new or experienced and can use that for a huge resource. I will probably do one this winter.
Dillon is great IF you’re going to stick with it. I have a Dillon super swage 600 and it is a game changer compared to all the other swagers out there. Eventually I’ll pick up a Dillon press but that’s just another money pit lol
Reloading can be an enjoyable pastime if you have the time, money and attention to detail. What @bonamoleonard said is true because there is a lot of liability in giving out certain information on reloading and load recipes. Also what load recipes that work for one person most likely won’t work for you because there are so many variables involved and every firearm is different. You start out with the general load data and you can slowly experiment to find out what works best in your firearms and what you are trying to accomplish. Reloding really comes into it’s own when you are looking to maximize the accuracy potential out of a firearm.
In todays litigious world you never know if someone hurts themselves or damages their firearm weither they will come after you legally. As mentioned there are tons of excellent books that cover the full range on the subject of reloading.
There are a lot of us on this forum that have served in the military, LEO and First Responders. This forum is unlike any other forum that you have been on. We are a tight knit forum and we all get along. There are times that we can agree to disagree but we pretty much always remain civil to each other.
Welcome to the forum. There are a bunch of guys here on the forum that have a lot of knowledge to share.
I made a trade with someone along time ago on ar15.com back before they changed the site.26 years ago if I’m not mistaken.
Anyway the guy I traded with sent me a huge box with a complete reloading pressl(lee 3 hole turrent press works excellent to this day),dies, scales, powder measures,50mm scopes etc. I bought a book lees modern reloading.I read it and it was very easy to reload pistol cartridges. My first box of 9mm reloads I put against a box of factory 9mm. I could not believe the difference. I shot all over the place with factory ammo.my reloads gave me one ragged hole.I asked my father in law why.He told me when a company reloads 500,000 rds they choose the cheapest components to increase the profit.I believed him and the Proof was in my first box.Following exactly what the book said for a starting load.
Pmc was 4.99 a box primers at that time were 14.99 per K. It was cheaper to reload back then but it cost more now.I still enjoy pumping out a box of 50 9mm 147 in 20 min. Well that’s only when I start with cleaned hand primed brass dropping charge seating projectile.
My friend laughs at me for reloading cuz he can just buy more ammo.I always clean up where I shoot on his property. So I also get free brass.
I like to learn and to me it is just like assembling a gun you get to understand by doing. My advice is to buy a book and a cheap lee press they are great and it is not work if you love what your doing!
Anyway
