AR-V magazine compatability

I have the AR-V and want some shorter 20 round magazines, I found on the CZ website that they have some in 1st generation style for cheap. Will non EVO 3+ magazines work in the AR-V or do I need a EVO 3+? I did call and talk to PSA, he seemed to think it would work but wasn’t super confident. Thanks for any input.

Im not sure they will. I dont think the baseplates are the same.

This is probably a stupid question, but why would the baseplate matter if it doesn’t seat against the magwell?

i dont think the baseplate would matter. what id be concerned with is the feed lips, how it latches with the mag latch, and the follower and spring. all that helps to decide if its a jammamatic or not.. so i hope that they would work. unfortunately i only run the pSa mags for my arv , and thus, i cannot speak to gen 1 mags or any others.

Well hopefully they work out, I bought 2, they are on sale for $10.99 at the CZ site.

Depending on how the baseplate interacts with the mag would change the way the extension would work. For example: glock mags vs magpul mags. The only difference is the baseplate.

Received the magazines today, they fit fine and cycle normally, at least manually, I haven’t shot them yet.

I thought you were buying extensions, not full mags.

I haven’t shot with them yet but they cycle by hand fine. I’ll update when I do.

I use PSA U9-35, CZ 20rd & 30rd mags interchangeably in my CZ Scorpion and my PSA AK-V. The only mags I ever had trouble with were the Magpul PMag 35 EV9. I couldn’t get those to work in either gun. When I contacted Magpul about the issue, they said they cannot guarantee function in “early” Scorpions (whatever that means) or any other Scorpion magazine-compatible firearms.
