Bought 3-30rd CZ Scorpions for my AKV. Got to finally range test it this past weekend. During firing the magazines would fall out to the floor still full or rounds. All three did the same thing. I could take the magazine and pull it directly out of the slot with very little effort. I decided to leave the range but before I did I held the magazine in place and rapid fired off 30 rounds. Got home and looked over the issue closely and noticed that the thumb release was not fully locking the magazine in place. I had to pull the lever until I heard/saw it click into lock position. Palmetto CS got ahold of me and was very good at wanting to fix the issue. I may try and grind down the CZ magazine lock lip (plastic) and see if it automatically locks in place. Just my experience with the CZ mags
GuitarGuy was that a reply post to me? If it is I have no idea if these mags are for a new scorpion. I know that if I pull the thumb lock just a bit I can get the magazines to stay in place. Even releasing the thumb lock will allow the mag to pop out as designed after last round. Major issue would be a quick replacement of magazines between empties, having to add a step to lock it in place. I have some PSA magazines coming and I’m sure they will work as designed. The CZ’s have a small lip where my AKV lock lever holds them in. The thumb lever is only seating about 75%. A small grind of the CZ plastic lip should fix this. I’ll put some white paint on the lip and see exactly where the bind is.
I use both PSA and Magpul stick mags with my AK V and have zero issues with them.
The only magazine so far that has given trouble is the Magpul drum which seats fine, but drops out after each shot. If I slap it or push it hard to seat it, then it pushes against the bolt hold open catch and locks the bolt back (and still drops out).
