I have a PSA AR10 build. Shot it and the pins walked out and jammed the action. Put in anti walk pins but now the extended mag release can’t be depressed because it hits the top of the pins. Solutions?
What trigger?
And the solution is to use the ar10 normal mag release instead of the extended one.
Well I use an extended mag release because I live in the People’s Republic of California and I can’t have a pistol grip. At least for now. I was hoping someone knew of an extended mag release that could work around this.
still wondering what trigger had the pins walk out?
It was from Palmetto State. Just a parts kit.
Does that answer the question? Not sure.
Assuming “Parts Kit” = MilSpec trigger…
Q1: Were the pins grooved?
Q2: Was the hammer spring installed correctly?
MilSpec, the pins are retained by a detent-spring in the hammer for its pin, and the legs of the hammer-spring are the detent for the trigger pin.
I’ve never seen a properly installed MilSpec pin walking on anything but drop-in “cassette” triggers - because the drop-ins typically don’t have detent springs.
Usually, they’re a real S.O.B. getting OUT because of the detents…
The hammer and trigger pin are both grooved. One groove in the middle and one to the side.
I presume the hammer was milspec since it came from Palmetto State.
Not sure what you mean about the hammer spring install. The “legs” of the spring were over the trigger pin.
They (the legs) can be over the pin and the spring still installed upside down. It’s a very common mistake.
Well Rufus you were right ! The spring was in wrong ! I am shocked it fired. Thanks !
Is it really possible that now that the spring is in correctly the pins won’t walk out? Seems like if the spring was strong enough to fire the weapon it shouldn’t make that much a difference with the pins.
You should be fine with the original pins.
there are different types of anti-walk pins. Some have connectors to each other, and some are kinda flat and only screw into the hole using a small allen key that will keep things from hitting them… i’d go with them
I don’t think he’ll need them with the spring installed right. But if he needs them you’re right.
