So I was out this weekend testing out my new 18" mid length upper and I started having issues with light primer strikes.
I have had such issues with both my KS-47 lowers in the past. I had installed PSA Custom 3.5# curved bow drop in triggers in both lowers and had no issues at first, but I noticed that the Allen head cap screws, that came with the anti walk pins that came with them, didn’t actually contact the side of the lower when bottomed out in the pin. After a bit, both lowers started having massive issues with light primer strikes, I reinstalled the original triggers(both using extra power hammer springs) and the problem seemed to go away again. So yesterday, while adjusting my new upper, I started having many light primer strikes. I checked my lower and noticed the trigger pin was walking out. I came home took out my pins and reinserted them with the notch to the left(in the hope that the hammer spring would slip into the notch and help in stopping the pin from walking).
I went back out today and started running a mag through it. All was fine for the first 15 or so rounds, then the trigger quit moving. I inspected the lower and saw the trigger pin had walked out about an 1/8 " and the trigger had cocked and won’t reset. I was able to push it back into place and the first round after was a light strike, as were the next few. I then inspected the hammer pin and noticed it was about a 1/64" to the left. I used a bullet tip to push it flush and fired around 5 more rounds with no issues, then had another light strike. I checked the hammer pin and sure enough it had again walked a small bit.
So, here’s my question, should I try some oversized hammer and trigger pins or try better fitting anti-walk pins? Or is there another option I haven’t thought of?. Thanks for any help.
