Common shipmates, Im not asking for agreement but objective criticism. Its the only way we learn anything. Be brave I wont bite ![]()
Very impressive rifle. I’m sure the capabilities of the gun would far exceed my ability and old eyes. Still would love to have one though…

Looks Dangerous.
I see it has one of those Black Bullet-hangy-down thingies, that allows it to murder with 30 clips per second, and a shoulder thing that goes up mounted beneath the kill-tube.
Thanks thlee43, your too kind ![]()
Yeah I know, If I did own this it would be tears to hand it over to the anti-gunners after 46’s 2024 miracle midnight landslide election.
Just got back from my FFL to pick up my stripped DPMS lower, and fill six 5 gallon purified water bottles filled. Arizona is Venus in summer lol.
OK I play critic. I owned a plain NM M1A rifle I purchased in the early 90s for a whopping $1300 new. Today thats like 2500. Anyway after shooting 1 national match ranking in the middle, and some local NRA matches against sandbaggers, I sold it 5 years later in 1997 for the same price. I never found it as accurate as my BAR 338 Safari, talk about a beautiful gun, I kick myself for ever selling. Anyway it seems like SA is throwing in allot for 1700, the Archangel stock alone cost 450 separately. Makes me wonder if the SA quality is still there since its a different company now.
OK im looking for more criticism to explain whys you wouldn’t buy it, or why you’d buy somthing else, build somthing else. Even sliders are OK, whatever a slider post is.
Operating rod is not very tolerant for much outside milspec loads, per a buddy that used to compete with a few.
He is much happier with his AR-10.
Ive no experience with the NM line. My M1A is a Socom II. It works, but man is it heavy.
Yup, you make the primary point about weight, especially if your a senior citizen (can’t believe I said that). I also own a AR10 SFAR 6.5Lbs. So funny when I was 17 in boot camp San Diego 1974, the M14 was not heavy just long. But at 66 even my PSA PA10 at 9.5Lbs seens like an anchor. But I keep lieing to myself that this awesome Archangel M1A will be going from tailgate to range bence, and will capturing some portion of my youth. Buying these things is like buying trophys for ones past especially if you’ve lived a life full of firearms memories. Hunting, camping, target shooting, military. Sometimes I wish my late wife was still arount to tell me NO!
PS AZ-joe, I like the way you resolved the M1A’s poor real-estate by somehow adding those picatinny rails.
