NRA/CMP High Power

Anyone shooting NRA High Power matches with their AR-10s? I’ve found my 20" stainless A2 build to be < 1MOA with 168gr and 4064. It’s heavy enough on it’s own to be stable in standing.

Thinking about using the 18" with 175’s for NRA/CMP long range. It’s not grouping quite as well yet, but hoping to find “the load”.

Welcome @Dreadnought Just out of curiosity, what accuracy are you seeing out of the 18"?

Thanks Josiah,

I’m only seeing about 2.5-2.8 MOA out of the 18" with the same load (41.9gr of IMR4064 under a 168gr Hornady A-Max). This was tested with M-Lok bipod, with 2 stage 4.5lb trigger (used the same lower for both upper tests). It’s also a stainless barrel with the same twist, so I’m a little surprised at the variation. This one is even free floated, so it’s odd that its A2 big brother is more accurate. They’re both 100% reliable, but the accuracy variation is a head scratcher.

I’ve got some N550 which should bump the velocities up a little. We’ll see what happens. I think It’d be pretty cool to bring a basically stock PA-10 and post some very respectable match scores.

Here’s the 20" A2 stainless for a baseline reference. The three outliers are the from three scope adjustments before the final 7 shot blob at 100 yards.

Try 43.5 under the 168 my 18" liked that.Work up of course. I think the 41.7-9 is more for the 175’s. Read somewhere this was the old load for Federal Gold medal match. Pay attention to your brass as different brass has different volumes. You probably know this but I figured I’d toss it out there.
