I recently purchased a PSA AR-V 8", and shot it for the first time today at my local indoor range. Distance was 25 yards, using both Federal and CCI (brass) 115gr 9mm ammo. I have a Holosun HS512C mounted and it seems secure.
The best 25 yard group I could get with the AR-V was about 3" - 3.5", which surprised me because I also have a PSA AK-V 10.5" 9mm MOE ALG Pistol that consistently shoots groups no larger than 1" - 1.25" at the same distance with the same ammo. In fact, shooting 30 rounds with the AK-V will produce one ragged hole at 25 yards.
I’m wondering if I need to use 124gr or higher ammo to get better results with the AR-V. What does everyone else use in their AR-V, and what kind of accuracy do you get?
I also have an 8" AR-V. From about 15 or 20 yards, mine grouped very tight (maybe less than 1") using a red dot MRO. The ammo was from a local reloading place that’s now gone, 115 grain - nothing special (?). All but one bullet went bang.
I’ve heard it shoots better with higher bullet weight but don’t know where I saw that. Maybe check for something that’s obvious while cleaning (looseness of a part somewhere, dry BCG (?), red dot mount). Wish I could help more I just love mine but would be miffed if it shot poorly.
Maybe one of the PSA guys or sysops would have an idea?
I run my 124gr reloads in my 10.5” AR-V. I had some 115’s that I tried when I first bought it and they didn’t shoot anywhere near as well. About 1” @ 22 yds with the 124’s and 2 to 2-1/2” with the 115’s
