Are free floating handguards rare or common on PSA uppers? Search results imply less than 5%

When I searched the site for in-stock 16" complete uppers in 5.56 it returned 51 items with the handguard counts below.

Is it true that only one of the 51 uppers has a free floating handguard, or should I assume that some of the Classic, M-Lok, & MOE handguards are free floating?

I need an upper for CMP & other matches at 100 yards or more, so I should prefer free floating, correct?

  • Handguard Type
  • Classic Handguard 20

  • M-Lok Rail 16

  • MOE Handguard 13

  • Free Float 1

  • Polymer 1

Way more than that should be freefloat. Pretty sure most of the MOE would be as well.

If it is the specific Magpul handguard those are not free floating. Usually uppers with a front sight base are not, and the rest are.

I ran your search parameters and came up with this:

I think the big challenge is getting “in stock”. This is going to change daily, sometimes hourly.

And, now that I’ve done this exercise, my “buy now” finger is itching…

Good luck!

Yeah, I agree it is an issue of maintaining inventory. Less free floating handguards because that’s more popular right now.

I purchased this AR-Pistol, came out around Nov-Dec 2022 and been sold out for a while. I love this Firecracker :us:
