Choosing, Daily Deals, confusing acronyms, oh my.
Did some building in the past, should be able to get it together as in buy a kit…
Thinking 16", lightweight, very accurate, I know, not a bolt action Savage or Kimber…

I know the CHF barrels aren’t universally recognized as “tack drivers”, but in my experience they are fantastic. The durability is a nice bonus. The FN barrels PSA sells are a tremendous bargain. I like your second possibility a lot. The ept trigger is an upgrade over mil-spec, but a 2-stage or premium single stage will make it even better. The mid length gas system is pretty smooth. It might not be a bolt action Savage or Kimber, but then again, it might surprise you… in a good way. Also: welcome.
Thanks,
Pretty sure going with the chf would be the highest priority…
The trigger is an easy upgrade. Appreciate your comment a lot.
welcome. rgustin and oldtoad are right… the chf are the priorty in my opinion as well. put your money into your barrel the most, then the trigger. and of course in regards to accessories, optics should always get the most $$… but i digress… I love the psa ept, its a inexpensive great mil-spec style trigger… their two stage is quite good too to me… especially when you compare prices and can get it on a daily deal sometimes.
Thanks,
Do you mean https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-ar15-pa10-enhanced-polished-trigger.html
Putting together a purchase, might as well do it right.
Or this one https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-custom-ar-3-5-lbs-match-grade-drop-in-trigger-flat-116055.html
man i never seen the match grade drop in one, i like it
Shopped around, will give it a shot, PSA Match Grade.
Thanks for your help.
nice, i like single stage
i’d meant the first one, i’ve no experience with their match grade drop in yet. or any of their drop in’s for that matter. i’m sure they are excellent triggers as well, and for the price hard to beat as well, but the 49.00 ept is what i had origionally meant. (i think they used to be 39, but that was a while ago) I usually when buying parts kits these days will buy the PSA lower parts kits with the EPT triggers in them. saves a little dough… like this kit when building an ar10 lower : https://palmettostatearmory.com/psa-pa10-moe-ept-lower-build-kit-black1.html
awesome… let us know how you like her.
Well, the kit ordered has the ept trigger in it, so will have a chance to compare.
You wont feel sorry with that EPT trigger. it is definitely worth the extra bucks they charge for it.
As Mr. Gretzky said, “skate to where the puck is going”.
What kind of firearm will you be wanting in a year ?
Will you want MUZZLE VELOCITY ?
Will you be thinking about buying a Magnum - or an AR15 variant with more foot pounds ?
I think a lot of first AR purchases are $$ wasted.
There is a good chance that what you really want is a rifle with more muzzle velocity and less recoil.
i.e. a rifle with a 24 inch bull barrel.
I tried about 8 different AR15 calibers.
The 6.8 SPC works the best - way better than 6.5 Grendel. Works the best with a HEAVY 24" barrel, that is.
Got rid of a 20" Armalite 10, too damn heavy.
We shall see,
A 5.56 w/30 in the mag will do what I want.
