Current Events 2023 Edition

With a commercial sized roll of aluminum foil set to unravel at the pull of some monofilament fishing line.

I might have done something like this as a kid, I think. We did accidentally bump an airplane with a homemade bottle rocket. I know the pilot was not happy, because he buzzed the block for 20 minutes.

RF laws under Ron’s watch.
I voted for him. I hold no illusions. He’s a statist, like the rest. He’s just less statist than the meth-freak who ran against him. Gillum spent his time in office digging a grave for Tallahassee, and I figured he’d do worse if he had the Governor’s seat.

Trump is not the universal scapegoat.

It sounds like Butt&Gag didn’t even bother to investigate the facts of the situation, he just jumped right into playing the blame game.

This video seems to show that the railroad was operating defective machinery, and what appears to be substandard preventive maintenance of a set of wheel bearings likely resulted in overheating of an axle. It started on fire, it may have seized. It may have contributed to if not caused the derailment. I don’t have enough facts to know.

What I can say though is that the electric brakes that Butt&Gag blames Trump for the train not having isn’t likely responsible for causing a wheel bearing fire. The secretary just has no credibility.

I also don’t buy that there’s a simple infrastructure problem with wheel bearings that caused the accident. The rail car needed repair but it was not repaired, so it should have been sidelined. Sidelining would have prevented the problem. Norfolk doesn’t get to claim that it’s not their fault b/c they couldn’t get bearings, so they left an unsafe car in service. They had a duty to maintain sufficient spare parts to repair their rail cars and a duty to take the defective rail car out of service, and they failed. Does anyone actually believe that there wasn’t a single set of wheel bearings available in the entire USA? I don’t buy that.

Now their insurance company will pay. And pay. And pay. Likely so will their shareholders if the policy doesn’t cover all of their liability and the fines that the EPA is going to hit them with.

They chose not to take the car out of operation.
They are guilty plain and simple. Case closed. Insurance company is going to fight this one tooth and nail.
Buttplug is a absolute moron who has no business holding the position.
Blame Trump is the easiest out for them.

No ideal of the actual Authenticity - but seems plausible.

There’s been a few pictures of that. I’m pretty sure that a real deal. What goes up must come down eventually, where will it fall no one knows

I know only One Thing: I am Grateful it isn’t Upwind of me.

That appears to be very symmetrical given the apparent altitude. Higher level winds would have dragged it to an oblong shape, I would think.

All I can say is I am watching Media and politicians going crazy over something that is NOT as they portray.
I say this as someone that actually saw the real time news of this. NOT the hyped up news generated a week later. I live not far and it was local news long ago…

I have pictures from my front porch from a scrapyard oil filled fire that lasted FAR longer than this event. Was larger and filled the sky for HOURS with soot and smoke. No one even asked a question .

my point is this current brouhaha is political more than anything . YES this was dangerous and bad event but it IS under control and no one anywhere involved died or was INJURED. Firefighters from 3 counties were onsite and NO issues…
Media CLICK bait…

Freaky And Goofy buttgig has ZERO qualifications for Transportation Secretary. With a CDL/A w/hazmat - Haz mat tech and instructor and 30+ year F/F I have more qualifications in my little finger than buttplugger.
Where did petey get his Trump BS?
Did incompetent pathetic pete pull this line of bull out of his prison wallet?
The d-rat freak show will be the death of the USA if not stopped.

Then why is my friend and half his company (hepaco) up there from from SC and reporting back to me that it is actually much worse then what’s being covered?

It’s not about immediate deaths, but the long term effects. Whatever water supply those chemicals touched, I know you ain’t drinking from it. That’s like saying flint Michigan isn’t bad yet we all know how that’s going.

The US deserves to have Poison Bombs rolling through their communities.

Most Americans have the Adaptation & Cooperation skills comparable to Wild Jungle Fowl.

( Wild Jungle Fowl males spend much of their time trying to kill each other, leaving the female birds un-guarded and vulnerable to predators. )

It is impossible to help people like that.

One of the main reasons I do Work in the Free World -
i.e. not the US.

There are 2 dates in the Train Safety timeline, relevant to the East Palestine Poisoning.

2015 and 2017. Obviously Obama was president for the first part, and the final rollback of regulations that probably would have prevented the East Palestine incident, occurred under Trump.

Looks like the US would be wise to abandon the use of Plastics - because their elected ā€œleadersā€ (Obama, Trump, Biden, Norfolk Southern managers) are too stupid to manage the related technology.

Shynet has an attitude…

I am just saying what I have seen and heard from folkd living a block from the crash.
Yes this is bad and not to be ignored.
But it is very localized and a one time event , unlike Flint this is NOT being sent into homes via public pipes as drinking water for long time period and CONSUMED by humans… apples and oranges.
I am suggesting that much of this is media hype and it is working…
Local talk radio just 5 minutes ago a guy ling along the rail road tracks is very happy to be home and says his cats are fine and running around , the squirrels are active as normal and he watched deer as normal. He says they SAVED his town and is greatful … that is from a resident that lives a block from the actual site.
Just trying to give a more local flavor to this

No I get that, I get what your saying. But we won’t truly know the repercussions for a few more years.
If we truly had better coverage verse he said she said we may have better aligning opinions. Right now you get a person ā€œlivingā€ there saying it’s nothing where as another group of people get shipped there to assist in clean up saying it is bad. You don’t have any real news sources covering it into any kind of dept.
I don’t know man, we’ll figure it out eventually I guess.
Stay on your toes, always be prepared, and have a back up plan!

Thanks for your concern.
I am absolutely unconcerned myself but then again I didn’t get a covid vaccine and still functioned the whole time working eating out , traveling and did it maskless.
A car crash is far more likely to get me than any of these things…
remember we do have LOCAL on scene news sources and they have been involved FAR longer with this that the NEW hype Fox started the other day …
We watched and listened to this in REAL time we see no one has been hospitalized, no one has died. The governor gave a news conference from the crash site a few day afterwards,
First responders ALL remove breathing gear the day after this, and you know THEY would not if concerned…The fish died the first day , not dying today…

we are watching media create hysteria for clicks

take care

Same, and same!
No jab for us, and we still functioned like normal!

Is it me or is it more than slightly terrifying how many peeps automatically started talking about aliens when the term UFO was used?

It’s not a one time event.
