I know we all have different opinions on quality of scopes, You get what you pay for, however some days you get thrown a bone.
Was reindexing the turrets on my vortex crossfire II after sighting it in and lost the screw that holds the turret on. I know we all have some kind of black hole in our houses that feeds off of small springs, screws and other small firearm parts.
emailed Vortex about ordering a replacement and they are mailing me a replacement free of charge.
that is customer service.

Vortex has some of the best CS in the industry. Glad they could help you out.
Think I’m sold on getting a vortex now, the guy I bought my house from is a rifle lover and has a some vortex scopes and has said good things.
Was thinking about the 1-6 strike eagle I believe. Could be wrong on the name. Any experience with that one?
I have a 1-8 Strike Eagle and have no complaints. The eyebox isn’t as forgiving at 8x but that is to be expected with 1-8 LPVO.
@BernieLomax i picked up a 1-6x strike eagle early after they initially hit market and fell in love. It was my first LPVO and I still have it. It lives on an 18" grendel now but it spent several hundred rounds on a dpms 308 and has never once shaken loose or lost zero. Reticle illumination has always been good and I swear by vortex for affordable entry glass. A friend has the 1-8x model and is pleased with that, as well. As always, YMMV, but its a great place to start.

No doubt, for the money, Vortex makes some of the best optics out there and has great customer service.

I only have a 16" 556 right now, would it be decent for that? I have a holographic on it now, was thinking of putting it on the pistol im building now and put a scope on the 16". Also thought about a magnifier instead. Just not sure.
It will be right at home on a 16" 5.56. But, then, so would a magnifier behind a rds or holo. I’ve used both and still do. I actually have a vortex strike fire and micro 3x magnifier on flip mount on my “one gun” because it’s lighter and that rifle was made to be carried around all day in the country, so weight won out versus higher magnification.
TL;DR - both solutions will serve you well, it’ll be more a matter of personal preference. IMHO, YMMV, etc

Sweet strap, palms and beaches are my jam.
Thanks for all the information, I guess I’ll just have to try both maybe

A magnifier will give you (IMO) some distortion and will be fixed with magnification. Depending on what you want to do with your rifle that may/may not be for you. That is why I like LPVO’s, you get 1x where needed and then plenty of magnification.

That’s a good point, I just seen they had a limited edition tan version, looks so awesome. Doesnt seem all that available anymore. You guys have any?
Tan version of what? The strike eagle? IIRC, those were done for Optics Planet (part of OP’s “OPMOD” series) and are just a different color for more $$.
Ahh ok, I wasnt aware of that. Just painted a reciever in fde, would look sick with it.
Paint the optic in the same color.
