I’ve seen a lot of posts about firing pin as the main part of failure in this gun and pretty much nothing else. Have they addressed that issue yet? Since all the reports are from at least 2-3 years ago or older.
The firing pin is not an issue. You yourself said “reports from 2-3 years ago.” If they did have a bad batch it is long ago fixed.
solid uppers, i would say glock quality.
Noted
I read the posts too, folks (a few) complained that their strikers broke… If it’s on the Internet, it has to be true, right?
- I’ve never had a striker/firing pin break either - the Dagger stuff is solid. However, the negative press on the Internet is out there, about Daggers, about Zaffiri, about Lone Wolf, about just about everything not a Glock. So I get the question a lot about Daggers…
IIRC there was a small batch of firing pins that had an intermittent problem.
that makes sense.. i just replaced a gen3 glocks firing pin with a whole new one and slightly stronger spring, to reinsure i don’t have light strikes using cheap ammo.. if you ever do have a problem down the line with any glock upper firing pin you can quickly swap the entire thing out for like $20
First of all…welcome! Second…my Dagger is stock components internally. When I jumped on the platform after I read all of the threads/posts l followed our members break in procedures. Snaps, rack, squeeze, repeat. It is my EDC with confidence. Various ammo w/2,000+ rnd zero hiccups.
Enjoy because l am
it should be smooth right away, one thing i noticed is soaking the entire pistol in clp, especially the metal guide rod and frame internals, for an entire day prior to initial use really helps. that being said a slightly used glock (or dagger) is definitely better than new.
I concur brother!
I sure will. Just wondering if I need to buy some spare parts. Plus OEM glock firing pin is out of stock everywhere
That’s true, i remember when the Mr920s was new they had firing pin issues too
I’m about 4 years in on my 3 Daggers with stock firing pins.
Yes there was a small batch that had an issue. I got firing pin assemblies with my 1st two dagger uppers, just in case. They seldom (firing pin assemblies) even make it into the range box or pistol case at this point. I’m around 4,000+ rounds down range with an additional 2,500-3,000 dry presses per slide/frame. One dagger got aP80 flat faced trigger/w trigger bar assembly upgrade. That one gun has been a go-to, dry practice gun since then. With or without spring loaded snap caps in the chamber, I’ve not broken a firing pin.
I’m + 2,000 dry presses on each of the 9 Glocks I own (9mm, .40 S&W, .45acp, 10mm), without 95% of that having a snap cap/dummy round. Needless to say, the gen 3 clones are at the Gen3/Gen4 OEM Glock level of reliability.
My personal assessment is the internet blew up the minor PSA firing pin batch issue to justify paying 2 ×’s as much for Glock gouging you. LE pricing on a Glock Is typically $150-200 less for the individual officer to buy vs. retail. With the volume of Glocks sold they gouge the customer in my opinion.
Your milage may vary & JMHO.
Excellent assessment based off reality!!!
Hey stradalei,
I buy from this guy off eBay when I need spares: STRIKER Hard Billet Steel Firing Pin Assembly for Glock 19/17/26 9mm GEN1-4 NEW | eBay
I’ve run his stuff in over 14 G clone builds without issue.
There are others out there who make the “non OEM”stuff, this guy had the specs on his stuff that I liked the most. Shipping is fast, prices are low.
As already said before, OEM (Glock) makes a good amount of money off their stuff - the aftermarket stuff is (for the most part) as good if not better. I’ve found (actually) that a lot of aftermarket is much better (barrels, frames, slides, etc.).
Always a good idea to have a few spare parts kits laying around ![]()
Thanks. I dry fire a lot too with almost every new gun because I still a newbie shooter. Will get some spare parts suggested from other comments as they are quite cheap
Thanks you are very helpful. I’m doubtful about eBay sellers but if you are truthful then I will buy from them. Also have you ever bought their billet firing pin before? Also imma def get a spare extractor too. Since the dagger is going to be an EDC better safe than sorry
Yes, I’ve purchased their strikers (firing pin), their striker kits, their upper and lower parts kits, and even a barrel (though you can get those anywhere). I have not had a single issue with this stuff - and the reviews are solid. That said, as everyone says, OEM is OEM, so if you can find a great source for OEM, you can go that route. But, as you mentioned, OEM parts are out everywhere…
You can see my builds here: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTdXWn_6kg6iruFJawdnPvA - I won’t carry anything until it has at least 200-300 flawless rounds downrange.
Yes for sure but unlike other OEM parts it seems like Glock hates producing Gen 1-4 OEM parts. Gen 5s are widely available but Gen 3s? Nah. Also $70 for a firing pin is pretty insane imo. Glock guys will tell you it’s worth it but idk. Shadow system has a compatible one but I heard that older versions have snapping issues too just like older PSA dagger. I will trust you on the eBay parts. Also the new dagger firing pin isn’t exactly bad either. People just get those unlucky ones rarely.
I think you may have missed the point about there was a problem with a small batch that didn’t meet spec. It’s not a
