DIY new cabin construction

I used to find them on the 5 or so acres by the creek bottom in I owned in PA. Unfortunately all of my finds are gone now.
P.S. Thank you so much for that sticker. Absolutely fits!

Brother man we are “Ol Crypt Operators” l knew you would dig it! I got us 1ea made in Winchester KY not abroad.
@Rufus
Glad it arrived!

Dude just getting to this spot wore me out but I will definitely be spending some time over there whenever we can move out to the property :grin: @19foxtrot

Get in your SXS when y’all are settled. I’m diggin your homestead!!!

We are getting closer everyday.
Signed the paperwork giving the power company easement rights for their equipment.

Now waiting for the neighbor to sign off on his and hopefully he doesn’t cause any more problems for me.

Thanks brother @19foxtrot

I love that Arrowhead. I used to find them on my family’s plantation in NC growing up. My Grandfather had a bunch of them. Of course they all disappeared after he passed away. Half of them were ones we found growing up as kids.

I’m wondering how much water I can get out of that little stream? I’m assuming it’s just ground water and not coming from an aquifer.

Would love to be able to have a constant supply from it.

** Don’t know for sure if this is a stream or a spring but it’s flowing from the ground so I guess it’s a spring.

Have it tested. It will tell you a lot about where it is coming from. If it is a natural spring then it will flow year around weither it rains or not. You really will be lucky if it is a spring. If it is natural I would build something over it to protect the spring from getting contaminated. It can still flow but will keep animals and vegetation out of the spring head.

Yep I told the wife that I can have the local University test it for us. @1911

Brother I am so very happy for you that all of this is finally coming to fruition. It looks like you got a gem in the rough. It just needs to be polished a little bit.

My Grandfather owned a place in Arkansas that had a Spring on a hillside. Previous Homesteaders had set a Huge steel tank in place, ran piping into the spring that fed the tank, then (buried) piping down the hill to supply the house with running water. (In the Rugged Boonies… in the 1950s… the house got Electricity in 1978)

The cistern overflow was directed to supply two ponds in series, into which us Grandkids had dropped fish we caught elsewhere, that proliferated.

I envisioned a still to make liquor :tumbler_glass: :grin:
@TheAirHawk

Thank you brother @1911
It’s definitely going to take a lot of polishing but we are blessed regardless of the outcome to call it ours!

The water sure does appear to “look” good.

I told the wife that it’s good enough to wash dishes, clothes and my azz :grin:

Shelby drank plenty of it about 5 hours ago and hasn’t missed a beat.

Another thing, nothing is close to this water source, as far as housing, farms or potential sewage or septic.

That is awesome piece of land. Congrats on that, I am sure going to be a awesome hideout cabin to get away to. Worse case can always clean the water.

Soap in the shower, soap in the washer machine, soap in the sink, yep gonna clean me some water :grin:
@tsbond

Haha exactly! Sure looks clean, but got any deer out there or such?

I found this water by following what I thought was a natural funnel for deer :deer:
Seen scrapes but no rubs

Definitely have signs of poachers as well, or folks that I never gave permission to hunt.
Deer feeders, a blind and ladder stand.

@tsbond

Wow yeah will need to get that fixed up and some people educated on property rights. Crazy.

I’m giving them a stay of execution for the moment, I bought the land almost 4 years ago and have never spent any time out there because it was tied up in court.

New sheriff is coming to town though.
I dumped a mag before I left out of there today :grin:
