That’s kinda the setup I had in western PA, spring fed the house and a little pond in the back yard and the overflow from that went to the creek. Not the homesteaders part or buried steel tank though just a pump in the spring house fed a bladder tank in the basement. Fannie Mae won’t sign off on a spring so I had to drill a well, the spring water was better.
The neighbor across the street was with the Game Commission and he had the leftovers from the stock truck for trout put in. Flourished until one summer we had a bad drought and the water temp got too high and killed every one of them. Went with strictly large mouth bass after that, they did fine.
For personal consumption only, of course ![]()
Of course ![]()
@cjweigelt
As long as I am included in the personal consumption part I think that is a great idea.
If that was near the spring I was thinking there’d be a couple blue barrels in there…
??? @Rufus
Mash doing it’s thing.
I’ve heard lower temp longer ferments can produce phenomenal results, just saying.
I did find a couple of 55 gallon metal barrels but I think those were to store deer corn in for his little feeders.
OR it could be to make that cone licker!!
Been wondering since you mentioned the spring.
When the cat’s away the mice will play.
Gotta put up 'Posted No Hunting/Trespassing signs.
So nice of them to leave you a stand and a ground blind. How awesome! ![]()
Yes sir I already have them to put up @bonamoleonard
I’ve been wondering if these upgrades may be from your not so friendly neighbor or people he was possibly making $ off for hunting privileges.
@Jammo, @bonamoleonard is absolutely correct. Without Posted no Tresspassing signs they can’t be arrested without getting a documented warning first. With signs they can be arrested the first time that they are caught hunting on the property. This is very important to get the word out to the hunters. The signs also have to be spaced only so far apart. Best to call state wildlife officer. Have him come out and tell you the regulations and also to let DNR know that you may have a problem with pochers here in the next few months. They will be scouting the area again afew months before hunting season.
I asked one neighbor if he knew who the ladder stand belonged to and he said he did but didn’t know how to get in touch with the guy.
The ground blind I found yesterday I posted on a local Facebook group because I’m pretty sure I know who it belongs to and he’s in that group l so he’ll see it.
Also the wife and I let out a hail of gunfire yesterday to acclimate the neighbors to our arrival ![]()
The game warden is on my list to give a call to come out.
You should merely put up “No Trespassing” signs, instead of “No Hunting/Fishing” signs. I don’t know about your state, but in mine you run the risk of interference with your own Outdoor Activities by The Man if you’re “caught” doing those posted-prohibited things yourself.
Trespassing is a good Catch-all, you can’t Trespass on your own property.
