Everybody clap, clap, clap for the AFT

The magazine limits are unenforceable

You buy a magazine parts kit, and assemble whatever you want

Nothing in the statute prevents this

Also, the burden is on THEM to prove when you acquired said magazine. Only a handful of prosecutions so far, of mostly career criminals

Most sheriffs refuse to enforce this infringement

That’s stand up for the sheriffs, but freedom shouldn’t depend on the character of one person.

I’m not saying Florida law is perfect, because it isn’t. I’m saying 9 days to wait for a clearance that can be done in five minutes is insane.

If you constantly get delayed apply for a UPIN, its basically a SSN for gun purchases. If you have one it means you pass the background check after being delayed. The process is slow but you’ll get approved same day once issued.

Oh, I thought we were talking about magazine restrictions.

The delay earlier this year was like everywhere else, overwhelming demand, and being understaffed. It’s back down to the 10-15 minute wait for a background.

Who’s waiting 9 days? I regularly have PSA lowers shipped to my LGS and pick them up the same as they arrive. Fill out my 4473, hang out for a few minutes (depending on the FDLE backlog), pay my transfer fee, and out the door.
And that’s in Broward, the bluest county in FL.

County doesnt matter, its the state usually. Illinois was taking about 2 weeks last year. I order and go in next day to fill out paperwork and pay. By the time it ships and gets here, it usually has gone through by then. Ordered lowers a couple weeks ago. Taking about 4 or 5 days right now.

Illinois has also purchased 4M more firearms than any other state this year. One of the bluest most oppressive states in the country but we sure do have a ton of guns here.

I’m doubtful. It is Red Flag DeSantis, after all. In ten years he’ll switch to the DNC just like Crist.

You don’t have a CWP? I don’t remember the last time that I had a background check. The CWP is worth it even if you don’t carry. Just being able to walk in, pick one out, fill out the Form 4473, show your CWP and you are out the door. No hassle, no headaches and no wasted time. :sunglasses:
South Carolina also just passed some new carry laws and included in the law they did away with the $50 charge every 3 years to renew your CWP. So now for the people in SC all the it costs you to get a CWP is the training class. You have to love that. Right now the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division can’t hardly process all the new CWP applications. This is good news for our state.

I do now.

However, I do not believe that exempts us from the background check like it does in other states. Colorado passed a quasi universal background check years ago, even for private party transfers.

But there is also a law on the books prohibiting a registry of transfers.

It’s weird…

Background checks are currently running 10 minutes…

It’s all nuts…

I don’t even have time to find extra magazines or ammo or a case or even scratch my nose before mine clears, and then somebody close to me has to wait three days for no reason :man_shrugging:

I have seen the same thing happen. I have a friend that has no criminal record or anything else. Every time he goes to buy a firearm it takes hours for it to finally clear. He has called the ATF and the FBI and nobody can tell him what the problem was. He finally got his CWP and now he doesn’t have to be checked anymore. It makes no sense why it takes so long for some people to get approved.

I’ve heard that is simply bad luck - having the same or similar name to a known criminal or criminal alias.

Or a social security number only a digit or two different. I’ve heard and read the same.

That’s how it was with me and bro in law. Guy came back after 2 min and said he was instantly approved and to come back in 72hrs to pick up. I purchased after him in line and mine wasn’t and ended up taking 5 days.

That would be sweet, I’m going to get mine at some point, I doubt that will make a difference in Illinois though.
