Measure 114

Anyone else worried about this garbage? Possession of a magazine greater than 10 is a misdemeanor. I will have 67 misdemeanors on my if this passes and it probably will. Oregon is a blue state and seems to take its cues from that awful, dried up, drug ridden, prison known as California.

Unfortunately several states are starting to mirror California laws. I read measure 114 and that’s ridiculous. It even says the use of magazines greater than 10 rounds. At least in California they grandfathered them. I had several Hicaps before the banand kept them for years.

I highly doubt the felons commiting craimes care about a misdemeanor magazine charge.

I finally registered to vote, so I could vote against the Sales Tax.

One of the County Commissioners made the mistake of stating in an interview “if you don’t vote for the sales tax, we’ll have to de-fund the police”.

I have been taking an informal poll. e.g. asking people at the newspaper stand at Walmart if they are voting for or against the sales tax.

Roughly 14-0 against the sales tax.

I read about Measure 114, will be voting for 2A rights.

The general American practice of voting for Moron A vs. Moron B is not democracy.

It’s like one of those child safety seats with a Pretend Steering Wheel, and a horn.

IMO-When I vote I don’t vote for who I like and shares my values. I vote for who I hate the least and is less likely to lie and destroy than the opposition. When it comes to politics its is a den of vipers.

Ditto.
Absolutely “the lesser of two evils” approach.

Look at the difference in the money spent pushing Measure 114 vs fighting it.

I’m getting these “pro measure 114” flyers daily now.

Those stats are most likely made up. Post the data in a non bias way… haha ya right…

If magazine bans worked. California murders should have decreased. I grew up and watced crime increase each and every day.

Assault weapons ban…
14 day waiting (cool off) period…
One gun per month…
High capacity magazine ban…
No detachable mags on rifles (bullet button release)…
Thumbhole stocks required
Paddle grip stocks. Oh whatever they’re called…

Oh whatever, I’m preaching to the crowd lol.

It passed. All firearm sales cease until further notice December 8. No way this isn’t about control. Why am I paying money to the NRA when they do nothing to help us?

Just to be clear December 7, 2022, is the last day to buy a firearm and standard capacity magazines normally as we have done for ages in Oregon. December 8th is when this unconstitutional law goes into effect.

  1. Your wording is incorrect; firearm sales are not on hold. After Dec 8, there will be a hold until guidance is giving about what M114 actually mandates as far as purchase licensings, etc.
  2. Are you a boomer that still thinks the NRA has done anything for gun rights? My 67yo father gave up on the NRA over a decade ago because he understood the NRA was worthless. Send your money to Firearms Policy Coalition and Gun Owners of America.

IMO-NRA is good at some things up to a point. Firearms education, safety and training is top notch. Lobbying and legislating not so much. Not anymore. Firearms Policy Coalition and Gun Owners of America are better at those. They haven’t done squat lately not like FPC or GOA has.

Glad you posted about it.

I called a local dealer, he said the transition date would be January 10.

How many Oregon gun store employees are booking a flight to Tahiti for January 11 ?

Does this mean that if someone wants to buy another lower from PSA they have to fill out a form for each lower ?

Maybe the gun store employees will get NEW JOBS - at the Oregon State Police.

Will the OSP be handling the Big Pile of Forms this is going to generate ?

Measure 114 affects the 9 mm world a lot, because that’s where the higher capacity magazines are.

In the 45 ACP world, Measure 114 “just” adds an extra form, which is obviously a stressful un-necessary bureaucracy-growing thing.

It’s like a Chemical Enzyme that causes Organizational Cancer.

Just read that the same idiots that created this measure 114 are preparing another one to ban semi-automatic “assault rifles” in the upcoming legislative session. It’s crazy that they are funded by out of state, out of their minds idiots. Someone make it stop please! Oregon was awesome!

Where did you read it ?

Tried to find it somewhere, couldn’t find anything about pending or upcoming legislation.

I know it’s a legit concern, the gun-grabber Parasites are on a roll.

I did find this -

Oregon Prohibition on Semiautomatic Firearms Initiative (2022) - Ballotpedia.

That’s the one.

Right there with you bud. I recently saw palmetto is prioritizng mags for Oregon residents. What if umm…i purchased a firearm that comes with multiple mags? Everyone rushing to get their stuff in, rediculous here in Tigard/Portland .

Dont forget “OFF” Oregon Firearms Federation. Same, when I saw La Pierre was in CA and bought a $30,000 suit a few years back i said NEVER AGAIN, ill never support NRA again.

And then there is the Keltec P50 with the built-in magazine.

I guess as far as Oregon goes, you won’t be able to buy one starting December 8, unless the Emergency Stay is granted.

Nice long barrel - so the rifle-ish bullet can get itself some muzzle velocity.

From Hodgdon Reloading, the stock 5.7-28 is about as many foot pounds as a 9 mm 147 grain. 350 foot pound ballpark.

The barrel length there is 4 inches. The Keltec has got to improve on that.

Using the shooters calculator foot pound web page.
