I recently bought an optics ready slide for my Rock and installed a Holosun 407k optic on it. I have astigmatism in both eyes and the dot looks like a cluster of grapes.
I had my opthomologist make me some shooting glasses that have a focal length of between arms length and 100 feet. It solved the problem and now I have a sharply defined red dot on my 407k. I thought this might help some of you with the same eyesight issues.

yep, I have one also, but I’m lucky it’s only in my left eye.
Don’t have a stigmatizum , but I’ve read that a green dot is best for those that do. I have the 507c on my rock wirh the red not green
Eh. It’s not a big difference. The green is a little easier to pick up but it’s still a distorted mess.
I’m moving away from dots on most things. Rifles slowly all getting LPVOs/MPVOs and prisms. Handguns I’m not going to bother, I never shoot them past 25 anyway.
OP, can you elaborate on these shooting glasses? Are they prescription safety goggles?

i knew about the stigmatism being a problem for red dots, luckily im not there yet.
I pick up green much faster, my eyes are “green sensitive”.

Yes, my shooting glasses are prescription lenses. My eye doctor is a shooter also, so he knew exactly what I needed.
Besides the astigmatism, I also had the lenses in both of my eyes replaced because of cataracts. Kinda like the six million dollar man. LOL

i’m getting old enough that i have to have readers just for even menu’s at resturants now… .i hate it, as i was always very proud of my eyesight being so good… but now its not… im actually due for another eye sight checkup… just havent done it yet.
im sure if this keeps up i’ll need a set of glasses before i know it.
I started out with 1.5 reading glasses at age 55 and within 3 years needed 4.0 reading glasses. At age 62 I had both lenses in my eyes replaced because of cataracts. Afterwards, I was able to throw away my reading glasses, what a difference it made.
Getting old sucks !!!
