Holosun 407c or 507c

Any of you have both sights and have a preference? I think green will be good but not sure about the 507 for the extra money. But thought I would ask around for any real experience.

I have a 407K, 407C, and 508T. Overall I prefer the 508 due to the window size. I have them all set up with just a dot.

Yeah for 80 dollars I would probably not really use the reticle except for a test or two. Dot seems plenty on a pistol, might work better on a shotgun not sure. I will check out the 508.

I have a K with the 6 MOA dot and do not like that big of a dot. I saw the Comp model on @Coolwin1776 's link with a 6 MOA dot and wanted to throw that out there.

The Pointy-End Competitors I have talked to have told me that Smaller is Better: The “Aim Small , Miss Small” theory.

That seems somewhat obvious, but you might be surprised at the number of people who will argue about it.

I would be in the “Aim small, miss small” camp.

Yeah I think the reticle would be more a use it a few times and end back up with the small dot when actually caring about shooting. Reticle looks cool though.

I think the reticle is cool too, I feel like it would be useful based on scenario.

I’m an '“aim small, miss irrationally far off” kinda guy.

For pistol a plain dot is way easier. Unless you get that Vulcan circle, which is pretty cool. Long guns I prefer circle dot.

Saying what I said, I still prefer a circle :hollow_red_circle: reticle over anything else. Because I still (apparently!) cannot utilize a Dot anywhere near its potential. (Note that I never once claimed that I was at the pointy-end of Competition - I’m a “C” class Shooter, occasional “B” class, on my absolute best day)

Astigmatism makes the dot a distracting smear, but the circle I can get on target much quicker. It’s not that I CAN’T use the dot - it’s that the circle just works better for me.

Oh yeah I get that, I have been myopic my entire life but as I got older they make my glasses so I can read books and such with the same glasses because I lose my farsighted vision also. As I get older the dual vision glasses are not perfect for either. Just annoying, my glasses blur my iron sights a bit, well actually quite a bit. I have always been a iron sights lover but its getting more difficult. Maybe I can get some glasses that have no transition to dual vision. Be cheaper than topping all my handguns with Holosuns LOL!

The cheaper red dots have been less than good to me like cheap Vortex because of that smear you are talking about. I bought my first holosun 407c for my HK Match handgun and it has been fantastic. I have some Viridian(sp) green dots (SW Rebate) and found the green to be awesome. So going to get a Holosun green. It was a Holosun or a BB .380… Life is hard man!

Hmmm. here’s a thought: first get the CZ82 because it’s cheaper than the BB; then the green dot Holosun because green really is better for aging eyes; then get the BB because you have those other two nice items but you still don’t have a BB yet. Problem solved.

This is only a partial endorsement of Cylee: The Wife has won an Optic from them, I have had really great Customer Service for the small issue I had with one, etc.

Cylee Optic has a line of just-introduced red dots that are “aimed” at Astigmatic users:

They have details on their site.

Now the Disclaimer - I have not tried one of these STIG-RS. They make a good, sturdy, Holosun-quality Optic at a pricepoint just under Holosun MSRP. The downside is, sometimes you can get a Holosun at a Discount, but Cylee essentially unless you catch a Sale (which they’re running 15%-off for their STIG-RS right now) is gonna be watcha see is watcha get.

Now for the rollback: I decided Ima going to get one, see just how good it is.

Probably the “Frog” model, as it’s Holosun 407/507-“K”(RMS-fullsize), instead of the “Chameleon” which is 407/507-“C” (RMS-Compact) footprint.

407/507K is NOT RMS full size, it’s RMSc or K if you will, Micro footprint. Fits the Rock and Dagger Micro models. 407 / 507C fits the Dagger and Dagger S compact footprint. I love the Cyelee that I have. Think I’m gonna get one of those STIG ones for a Dagger.

I didn’t realize the 407k and 407c were different plates until recently looking up plates for Beretta’s.

I think the optics guys were jealous of the Puzzle Palace Glock built.

Don’t get me Wrong - I Loves me some Horoshun! But ya gotta admit, this is kinda funny…

(and it wasn’t so long ago - Holosun was one of the “little guys”, and had trouble getting anyone to buy their product at any price)
