F5 has apparently released a gen 2 of their ACR stock for the Jakl that uses an aluminum chassis/internals instead of polymer.
Price looks to be around $285 to $350.
I might have to look into this before pulling the trigger on an HDA3.
Not sure which one of these links is technically correct, so I’ll just leave both.
PSA should really get some of these and sell them like the other Jakl stocks.

Mine is still on the Jakl but I don’t ever fold it.
Adapter piece and the spine/hinge of the stock is made of aluminum. So it has actual lockup unlike the all polymer stock PSA sells/they used to make.
The guy in this video shows it off. He has one for his .308 Jakl, which is where I learned about this.

Aweome! Just got email notification of shipping for the F5-ACR Jakl stock I ordered at the beginning of the month.
Excited to get it in my hands and get it installed. Not only do I think I’ll look better than the Jakl MSS PSA sells, but I’m also looking forward to comparing them as well.

Okay, got the new F5 stock in Monday.
From time of order to notification of shipping was 3 weeks. I know F5 has had a bad rap for poor communication and long processing times, but it was stated up front that processing could be between 1-30 days. They got it made and shipped in 3 weeks(~21 days, or about 15 business days), with no need for me to inquire about the order. But I could also just be a lot more patient than most across the internet, lol.
First impressions: stock looks great, has a tiny bit of heft to it so you know before inspecting that it uses aluminum. I could tell right away that the color is much, much closer to “magpul FDE” than the all plastic one I got from PSA when I built the rifle.
It came with all the hardware you’d need to install it onto an AR15 lower to convert it to a Jakl lower. However, I ended up reusing the hardware I got with the old stock from PSA. With the hardware F5 sent, I couldn’t get the adapter to tighten down well against the lower, but the hardware from PSA worked just fine. The stuff from F5 was slightly different, and it seemed to me that the “rubber” washer that goes on the inside of the lower wasn’t actually rubber like the ones you get from PSA.
It functions the same as the Jakl MSS stock. Cheek riser and butt stock are made of polymer, the adapter and the spine or chassis is aluminum. This little bit of extra weight from using aluminum also seems to have balanced out the rifle better. My 13.7 doesn’t feel quite as front heavy with the new stock installed.
The lock button is polymer still. Not too sure why that was kept, but maybe F5 determined that they didn’t need a steel/aluminum locking button.
It only had one qd cup, not anti-rotation, but it is able to be swapped to the opposite side. So it could probably just be replaced with an anti-rotation qd-sling mount cup. And you could probably put one on the other side too if you wanted.
Some comparisons between the old and new:
No internal storage on the new stock, but I dont think that’ll be an issue for me. I wasn’t using it on the old stock and probably wouldn’t use it on the new one if it had it.
I bet if you had the right tools, friends, and/or know-how, you could machine a trapdoor into the stock yourself for some cr123 battery storage or something.
Lock-up when folded on the new stock is great. There is no flop like the old one.
Old, with the well known “floppiness” when folded:
Shouldering the rifle with the new stock on, there’s no flex what-so-ever. If you look hard enough, you can see a tiny gap open up between the stock and adapter when pulling it into your shoulder, but you dont feel the stock flex at all like you can with the old one. This is probably because the locking button is still made of polymer, but I wouldn’t count it as a ding against the stock. It feels much better than the old one. The only movement I felt was the typical looseness you get between an AR upper/lower.
Overall, this is a marked improvement over the gen. 1 MSS stock F5 was making for PSA’s Jakl. Definitely worth the money in my opinion. Especially since these “F5 ACR” stocks are still on a “sale” for $285 (they’re supposedly supposed to be $350). Now, in the time since I found this and ordered one, I’ve not seen the gen. 2 Jakl MSS come back in stock on their website, but I imagine that they won’t stop making them since that’s the style PSA puts on the Jakl’s they build. PSA should definitely consider liqudating their entire gen. 1 MSS stock inventory and start selling these gen. 2 stocks, if they haven’t already.
So it would be down to personal preference on whether or not you like the ACR look, or the SCAR look. Personally, I think the ACR stock looks better. With this, the Jakl is now pretty much as close to an ACR as one can get without actually buying an ACR, lol. But I would definitely recommend this over any of the offerings PSA currently has. And the price, if it stays $285, makes it extremely competitive with some of the other offerings that have popped up recently, like the HDA3.
it looks good. thank you for the review and information. I do really like the look on the gun of both stocks. I do think you’re right, it would be good business sense for them (psa) to phase out the gen 1 stock and move over to the gen2 stocks. we’ll see in the future what PSA does decide to do.

I see that PSA has updated a lot of their listings for Jakl-15 rifles and lowers with the gen. 2 F5 stock (they call it the F5 stock G2).
This is awesome. People are gonna be happy with a more solid stock on this rifle out of the box.
I’d only suggest that in the description, you guys should point out that the stock chassis/spine and adapter are made out of aluminum. I’ve already seen a thread on reddit asking what the differences were other than the slot vs. the holes on the gen. 1’s, but I don’t have a reddit account and can’t comment on it.
Folks could go to F5’s website and see the differences…
i agree the descriptions should show the differences to make the buyers more interested in buying that version versus the first version, but only if the G1 or first gen is no longer available.
Does anyone else have any more experiences with this new aluminum F5? I think I’m getting a JAKL itch…
im getting the G2 Jakl itch myself. im just not sure what caliber i wish it to be in.
I don’t think I have the luxury of waiting for the G2 with a state-level AW ban looming up here.
