here is the new machined ww2 replacement safety knob. it looks great has the original stamp on it . These waffenamts are copies of the bnz stamps “WaA 623”. pictures are of the assemble ,dissemble of the mp40… took me about a hour to do this. not really all that hard. i am putting a hand written summery on how to do it. also a video from katrina sanders from you tube, she also has a reassembly video. https://youtu.be/-qUMBhzxJKk?si=tDQf76w0Z0rqUxzq
and here is the hand written …The installation is pretty straight forward. Remove the magazine and clear the weapon. If installed, remove the folding stock and sling at the rear attaching point. Separate the upper receiver from the lower. Release the hammer. Remove the pistol grip panels and side panels. At this point you are going to separate the two halves of the lower receiver by removing the screw at the right rear of the lower receiver and 6 torx head screws from the left side. GENTLY pry the two sides apart with the right side down to expose the hammer and original safety. A small bent hammer spring may fall out. Don’t panic. There is a small recess on the left side of the receiver that will indicate where it goes. The original safety will lift right out. Use the retention screw from the original part in your new part with some loctite. Install the new part in the original location making sure the safety plunger is lined up with the machined recesses in the new part. Ensure the firing pin spring is back in it’s recess on the left receiver side and reassemble the two halves, making sure the long upper leg of this spring is on the forward side of the small hammer pin. There is also a small machined cylinder with a hole thru it that may also come loose. This part goes between the two halves at the rear where the large receiver screw goes. Once the two parts are reassembled you can check the operation of the safety. Reinstall the small torx screws and rear receiver screw, re-attach the side and pistol grip panels, reinstall the upper receiver and do a function check. This pic shows my old safety but the positioning is the same: good luck…sure is worth the time and effort.

Mark that looks pretty awesome. I had seen it on the facebook group and was interested. I just got the screw set and takedown from John last week and have already added it all to my Mp40… it does make it look better in my opinion… its a subtle change but boy it really does make the weapon look more legit. Where’d you get the brown furniture from?
I bought them from a guy on one of those groups. Its just paint. You can do your own. There are guys that already done it,and will tell you how to do it. I dont think it was worth it because ,its just brown. Dose not really look like bakelite. I see some that look just like bakelite,by using a sponge, and maybe some darker red paint. Just do your own.
ahh i gotcha. i was thinking it was all really wood or all brown plastic… i may try my hand then at painting them to see how good i am at it. lol. thanks for the info.
