We beat the British with muskets, but I don’t think I’d want to rely on one today unless everyone around me was also limited to muskets.
We beat the Brits by using tactics and tools they did not understand.

During the last part of the war of 1812, at the battle of New Orleans in Jan 8th, 1815 Andrew Jackson built a 6’ tall berm in the shadows of an oak tree lined lane leading up to the a plantation. Villere, a plantation owner earlier spotted British scouting their landing area on the east Bank of the Mississippi. He notified Jackson and they were laying in wait for them. Short on ammunition and gun powder, Jackson made a deal with the notorious Jean Lafitte a Privateer (sort of a government back pirate) to supply powder and ammunition quickly in exchange for letting him continue to do his business without going to prison. Jean Lafitte was also had a blacksmith shop in the French Quarter.
Anyway, Jackson’s men had 13 cannons behind the berm. The morning of the battle, the British marched in line formation and were mowed down by sharpshooters and cannon fire. The British casualties numbered over 2,000, with 700 or 800 killed, the rest wounded. Jackson and his Tennesseans and Choctaw rifle men had 13 killed and 79 wounded. The battle lasted 2 hours, with the main action only lasting 30 minutes.
The tragedy was that the treaty of Ghent was signed in Belgium on 24 December 1814. Actual hostilities ceased 2 or 3 days before in Baltimore and in Maine on the other British campaign fronts. News traveled slow in those days…
Chalmette National Battlefield has a British Soldier’s Cemetery with row upon row of white crosses. There is a museum there, and when I was a kid visited there on a field trip. A British sword was broken off in an oak tree (missing the hilt) but about 6 or so inches was still visible, and the tree is still there growing around it. That was about 56 years ago when I was a 10 year old kid.
I stated this before: The United States is 249 years old, and I figured out that I have been alive for 26% of it’s history.

I did run into one I’ve never seen before today. I’ve seen this guy before and he always has an unrealistic amount of surplus clothes for all branches. Well today, he had used underwear… I wish I took a picture of it because it doesn’t even sound real. On top of that, they were $5 a pair! For USED UNDERWEAR!
His business model is wrong. Used underwear would sell like hotcakes and a democrat event, especially if he didn’t wash them first.
