Suggestions for the Third Giveaway!

We wanted to get community feedback on the next Giveaway starting next week. We would like your thoughts and suggestion. (We know, less confusing than the current one.)

Please keep in mind that the goal of the giveaway’s is to foster increased engagement and bring more folks to the forum!

You may already be doing this (I don’t know because I don’t do social media), but creating exclusive giveaways available only here with notices over there to draw people here to participate.

And yeah, make it simpler. Even the description was TL:DR for the last one. And it seemed to result and people posting random stuff all over the place. I skipped it completely because I knew I would mess it up somehow, and it seems many did. Exclusive and straightforward FTW!

Vouchers for the right to purchase a PSA Dagger would bring people to the forum. Contestants must have 100+ posts to enter so people just don’t sign up only for the voucher.

I do like this idea a lot. We have a badge system we could implement fairly easily. We could do something like, post X amount of times and you will get a badge that automatically enters you in to the next giveaway.

Great tips. So far these giveaways are exclusive to the forum, so only the members here will have a shot at winning.

I like that idea…but I fear too many people might respond with one word posts like “nice” or “excellent” rather than quality stuff. The bar might have to be high enough to discourage that, but not sure what number that would be.

I’ve been on some forums that have minimum character or word limits for responses. I’m not sure if your software allows for that, but it might be a countermeasure for that.

I second the idea of putting the winner on a waitlist for the Dagger or JAKL. But you have to mention the giveaway in interviews or things like your youtube show with The Gathering at The Sawmill.

My experience on other forums is that requiring people to post, tends to generate a lot of nonsense posts and threads.

If you are trying to draw people to the forum, if you then require them to have X number of post before they can enter a giveaway will sour those new people. Draw them with the giveaway, keep them with the content.

One separate thing you could do is smaller contests, for instance give a hat or magazine away for the best photo of the month. Or best thread. Or best answer to a question.

I did not find the 2nd giveaway rules to be unreasonably difficult. :eyeglasses:

If you want people require people to post on the forum, there is something call a “counting threads”. The idea is that the first person posts “1” and the second person posts “2”, and so on. You could direct required posts to this thread. It also gives forum regulars something to do. An amazing amount of time is wasted on the internet.

A variation of the counting thread has people posting pictures. For instance, here is the number one:

Give away ammo. 1000 rounds of .223 should get a lot of people to the forum.

Design a meme lower and let everyone vote on their favorite. A limited run gets made with the winner getting one.

Seems pretty reasonable. Having some smaller prizes or a coupon code as runner up/consolation or as :lobster: said a small contest itself would be cool.

Give away? I would highly recommend since PSA dominating the American made AK market. hmm… The sweetest give away you could do would be a PSA GF5 or AK-E with a yugo 1260 crate of ammo and (1) Berkalite/Tula mag, it would be a like a 1.7-2k give away, but boy that would be one nice sweet pot to win. Anywho, a man can dream right? =) That is my two cents.

Doing X for the right/opportunity to purchase something is all kinds of bad. It comes off very elitist and for your time you are only getting a opportunity, compared to what PSA has said may times at Shot Show they are a “for Common use company” not a “for profit company”, doing vouchers diminishes that greatly. I feel like vouchers are not a good way to go and go badly very quickly for PR relations to your customer base, given what they have said publicly.

The ammo give away is relevant to the times or a 50 cal.

I kind of like the way it is being exclusive to people on the forum but I do feel like having people share their dated post is going to just have people post random stuff all over the place.

I think exclusive is bad for promoting a common use company, that said if the customer base want something like that, PSA could grant forum users more entries. For example, random people get 1 but people in the forums that are active get 3 or 5. Better yet, let forum members earn achievements in the forums during the give away period, each achievement is a entry. It becomes something you earn instead of something arbitrarily exclusive. It would also promote growth and activity.
