I have been waiting patiently for some time now but it dont seem to be going anywhere. I just want to know for sure so i can spend my money elsewhere or wait for psa but i dont want to wait on something that isnt going to happen.
Like many of their SHOT show guns it is a concept. I have not heard any plans to cancel it. R&D takes time and PSA seems to have moved away from the “video update” model to the “release date confirmed” model.
i’d have to say no they are not dropping it. only because they havent came out and said they were. Normally PSA would say it if that had happened. I am pretty sure its in development, and that takes time, if not years to get it figured out how they want to do it, and then to make prototypes, and change those when they need to either from a problem, or from a revision that makes the prototypes better… I personally am waiting on them too, as i look forward to building my own bolt actions.. there are clones of sniper rifles i want to make, as well as other items im just thinking of that i may be interested in building on my own in various calibers too. so we’ll see… i’d not worry yet, im sure they’re working on it still.
I give up ! I wanted to get my build from psa but they seem to have a thumb up the butt problem on this bolt gun builder kit so I went elsewhere. Just drives me nuts that the more complicated guns are put out there pretty quick but 3+ yrs of r&d on simplicity. Oh well ,I’m not a manufacturer so all I can do is ■■■■■about it. Just hopefully for the company that turn coat Trump don’t start a semiautomatic gun ban or something stupid like that.
Its only been 3 months. There is so much that goes into a new gun being made from the ground up. Not only do you actually have to build it, but in this day age there is the legal side to it (i.e. patent search, design, etc.). Its just not as simple as “lets make this”.
Also, as Trump and PSA are in the same circle, I would be wary of calling Trump a turncoat on here. PSA and their owners have fully put their support behind Trump.
yeah it takes some time for PSA to develop a new product from scratch and come out with it.. at the time of the show we saw it at it was just a prototype, so it wasnt slated for production until after everyone voted if im not mistaken.. so i hope we’re close to seeing an update on it for sure as im as eager as you are to build my own, but ill be patient for it.
At the risk of being a jerk… rather than reinvent the wheel, if PSA made me pointman for the DIY Bolter project my first move would be to look for proven designs with plentiful existing components availability and expired patents/trademarks, then downselect those based on “keep the requirements for specialized assembly tools to a minimum.” Maybe also look at which WWI/WWII milsurps are surging in market prices as another factor, so you can ride both the DIY and collector/historian/reenactor ponies.
It aint that easy given the buying/selling/bankruptcies of companies.
I mean, the rumor was they’re using Remington 700 compatible parts. Hard to find a more common bolter than that.
What is this 3 months stuff. I have been seeing it talked about since shot show last year. As far as the Trump remark, I voted 3 times for him and he is still giving my money to Israel and ukraine, not America and if psa wants to sensor me then they can get â– â– â– â– â– â– also. If np sensoring then I remain a customer.
3 months since you started this thread. As for Trump, money sent elsewhere is on Congress who does the budget. Trump is not a king or a dictator. Blame your representatives which is where the blame belongs.
Why do all 2a discussions have to deteriorate to politics? As a moderator, shouldn’t you be squelching it and/or moving it to some town square forum so threads can stay on topic and we don’t have to be subject to this crap?
Anything But Firearms is a section on here for a reason, no?
Welcome @crogs . Not every conversation does, but the 2a is a highly political conversation. He mentioned it in his post that as a moderator I responded to.
It’s why I mainly lurk. And that’s the problem. You entertained it. Could’ve edited his part out or moved it to a political discussion thread and not given your opinion in response.
I fight the urge to give my opinion and just flag as off topic.
On topic. I’d like to see an improved version of BCA’s Bolt Action AR15 uppers. As of now it’s $280 (give or take) for theirs or $1500+ for a premium one. And BCA’s aren’t horrible, but the actual bolt action could be improved, and I think PSA would be a little better with their QC.
The reason I answered it is because of the relationship with PSA and the Trump admin. Not everyone is fully aware of the support that exists and there are employees here who monitor that. Us moderators are here to make sure what is posted on this site is in the best reflection of PSA.
welcome to the posting side of the forum Crogs! we’re glad to see you come out of the shadow!
I’m unfamilliar with BCA’s Ar15 bolt action uppers. That said I believe that PSA’s attempt is not to be an upper for an ar, but rather its going to be a full on bolt gun, that you can build modularly. now take that, and then also incorporate the possibility that you could build it as an upper for an ar15, well then thats even more cool, and mabye thats what they’re gonna do i dont know.. but if so, and add to that the rumors that they are working with the Remington 700 platform, well thats gonna be one awesome bolt gun that you can build by yourself at home.. or so i think. I know im pretty hyped for it, as i’ve always wanted to build my very own version of a super sniper wanna be type gun.
and dont forget.. this is also in the general area, so it is a loosely policed topic area. compared to other topics in a more specific area. General, is just general. ![]()
Definitely worth a look. For those that might not want to buy another complete gun, or be in a restricted state where they can’t. Just get a complete bolt action upper for under $300, slap it on your AR15 lower and go. Like in my situation, I suppose I could always get a ruger ranch or Savage axis. It would see little use, and if I’m already familiar and use to my AR workings in 3 different calibers, why jot just get the bolt action upper? And in my area of PA, 350 legend seems like a good choice. Can’t do a bottleneck style cartridge like grendel. So a straight wall like 350 legend works. About $400 at Cabelas or Sportsman’s for one of the two above options. A trip there, background check, long wait, and in my case of today at Cabela’s, I got a delay, so now two trips. Where the upper can come right to my door, easy peasy. If not a local store then it’s online ordering and the expense and trip to the FFL.
So the AR15 upper would be a nice option, and an easy pivot for PSA and can go from 22 arc up to 6mm arc I believe with 350 legend,400 legend, 450 bushmaster and 6.5 Grendel in there.
Definitely see the appeal/fun of building a 700 clone, but where is PSA going to fit in with market? You can go value with the Taurus. A couple hundred more gets you the step up to Bergara.
The Mack Brothers Evo seems like a nice base to build around. Aero makes one too. Out of my element though so no idea how Aero’s is quality wise. But to build, you’re probably jumping up over the cost of a Tikka at that point.
Not my area of expertise. Last time I shot over 100 yards was many moons ago with an A2 and iron sights.
Just enjoy reading up every now and then.
i’d have to see the numbers to believe that statement of them manufacturing the largest selection of affordable quality ar’s… Especially with all the companies inside the JJE umbrella of PSA. but.. i digress..
So you have to have a background check for an upper setup? ie. a upper receiver, barrel, bold carrier, handguard, flash hider sights,. and charging handle? I thought PA was free’er than that. we only have to do backgrounds on lower receivers. uppers complete or disassembled we can buy like its a bag of chips. as it should be. regardless of caliber.
