PSA has everything I need to build this 308 pistol from a stripped lower, but no parts or assembly for a Pistol length upper. So, can anyone recommend the vendor, pictured and linked below? Or does anyone know or can recommend a similar vendor product? Has anyone ever cut an upper and changed its gas geometry to pistol lenth?
Look at KAK Industries. They are a known company that is gtg.
All I could find there was Rifle-Length. But perhaps I should wait an see incase we’re all doing forced buybacks.
UPDATE & FYI: I received a nice response from my posted vendor and offered a military discount, which I thought was great.
“Thank you for your interest. Currently our lead times are between 1-3 weeks. No additional fees are charged to cc costs. All the pricing is displayed for you, no hidden costs. Tax is only charged for FL residents. All payments are secured online with authorize.net processing. We charge flat fee of $24 for shipment.”
Please look at reviews for that vendor.
Thank you I will, and if you have a link you’d rather privately send me, please do. Im still researching the pro’s and cons between 9.5" up to 12.5". And so far 12.5" seems to be the best choice especially since it operates normally at Carbine parameters and reliability, with moa accuracy and effectiveness to 400 yards.
I don’t have any links at the moment. I remember reading quite a few stories of people having unfulfilled orders and getting stuff with awful machining.
Yeah, the prices are suspiciously low, and a YT tour of the factory was a small square uninsulated metal building with a few nailed together work benches, and extention cords.
So Im also looking at CMMG for about twice the cost but with an industry wide reputation for quality snd customer support. A complete 12.5" 308 pistol for about 1700 OTD on sale. Still a considerable investment even for a middle-class boomer, considering it might become a buy-back casually of the never-ending war on gun rights. This looms on my mind.
It does seem the options are pretty limited, unless you were ready to put your own upper together.
The stripped lower & kit im committed to from PSA. Just before the father’s day sale of an additional 20 off. I’m still arguing with my self about buying the CMMG complete 12.5" upper for 1K OTD on fathers day sale. OR the complete unit for 1700 OTD
ONE LAST EASY REQUEST!
Please help me make up my mind why after buying a PSA PA10 stripped-lower build kit, I should/should not buy the CMMG 12.5" upper on fathers day sale. Im biting my pillow at night lol
Do you have a psa stripped upper?
I considered it, but can’t find a barrel shorter than 13.5". In addition PSA is no longer a source of 308 pistol upper components. The DPMS lower pattern is forgiving when it comes to different part sourcing and mating with a DPMS pattern upper. The upper however should be homogeneous in parts selection assembly, otherwise your asking for a troubled action. Why Im leaning toward a complete upper albeit more costly. But just leaning toward, please tell me why I shouldn’t spend 1K on a complete upper, buy a complete pistol for 1.7K, or a lower cost source of a DPMS homogeneous upper kit I can build and save.
@CWO4GUNNERG here is the barrel i have. AorA is gtg, fast shipping.
Sounds good I’ll check it out, maybe they have the matching gas components as well, as those are the most critical fit parts. I forget if its mid length or Carbine gas sytem that is recommended for smoother operation in the 12.5".
That barrel is carbine length.
Looks like Ballistic Advantage is limited on other needed parts for that barrel. I sent a message to CMMG asking the important
Basic questions about their upper. Most importantly DPMS compatibility with PSA if known, and gas system lenth clarification since it is listed in specifications as “MID”. So I’ll update on the answers.
Not sure im following your concern with that barrel. If you have a psa stripped upper, you need a gas block (any brand in the correct size), gas tube, muzzle device and rail.
Well I decided to check TrustPilot (grain of salt) to get an idea of their CS practices. It is a real bloodbath, everything from agressive restock fees to metallurgical issues. So Im done looking for now and requested from PSA if and when they will be restocking their PA10 12.5" complete upper, if at all.
@sean.psa may can help you out ![]()
