How do you feel about people trying to sell ammo for crazy prices

This is how I feel

Btw it changed f****** to I Am An IDIOT

I visit there as well looking for various stuff. The IDIOTS selling reloading supplies, primarily primers, are just as bad! Most of them are on pages 3,4,5 etc. from being bumped and not selling.

Yeah it’s crazy. VaTrader has a lot of good deals and people. But the people trying to screw people over grinds my gears.

These people are scalpers…….it’s hard to blame them….they are seeing an opportunity…and they are attempting to exploit it. My son and I refuse to buy their ammo….at any price……it’s just a principal. They are making it a business to get to the sports retailers early every day and they are buying as much as they can……to re-sell. Part of the problem with the ammo shortage are the scalpers who are buying & reselling ammo….before the average Joe can reasonably buy his ammo at retail prices.
What do I think about those scalpers……they are right down there in Hell with the lawyers and politicians.
There are still some good people out there though; I bought a case of 1000 Rnds of 7.62x39 for $ 425.00. I am hoping that the scalpers make NO profit from their illicit activity and that they get stuck with that ammo that people won’t pay crazy prices for. Ammo is still available at retail prices….your just going to have to put effort into locating it……and BUY ! ! When ever it’s available at retail.

these are the kind of guys that deserve a throat punch. I get it, supply/demand, but then again, you don’t sell bandaids at a playground for $10 a piece.

Ammo, like everything else, is worth what someone else is willing to pay for it. Also, there is a sucker born every minute.

It’s one thing for an gun owner to sell his surplus ammo, originally intended for his guns, at the approximate going rate, particularly if he has plenty and his friends need it. It’s entirely another for someone to race the average working Joe to the store to buy up all the ammo, whether he even owns weapons in that caliber or not, expressly to resell at an inflated rate. One is an opportunist, the other is an a-hole. VAGT most definitely has both.

I agree with everyone here.

The people that do this probably have no other real or legitimate source of income. Hopefully prices continue to come down and these suckers have to sell off for a loss or at cost. I’m spoiled with my big box LGS/sporting goods store and their all things considered great selection and not gouged prices, but I guess more power to those scalpers if some idiots are going to pay more than double what that costs online.

The sellers are providing you with two things: ammo, and more importantly, an education.

Store up things when prices are “normal.”

We all love capitalism until we see scant resources selling for prices set by the marketplace. That’s what this situation is, and it’s also the definition of capitalism.

And no, I’m not an ammunition seller. I feel your pain, too.

i th ink it sucks. but i think it is the free market of a capitalist society, and if i dont like it, i wont buy it. if enough do that, the price comes down. so… there you have it. my feelings, and my feelings on how to correct it.

You some kind of commie? You want some kind of price controls? Don’t like the price move along. It’s called capitalism. I refuse to pay the prices. I also have a long memory for companies who do it. Cheaper than dirt comes to mind every time this happens. Just ignore them. Your blood pressure will thank you.

With how much Russian stuff I buy you might think I am one. It annoys me. Like today I bought 440 rounds of 7-62x54r and 700 rounds of 7.62x39 for 400. Ammo is high but some people are delusional

Doesn’t bother me at all. It is called free enterprise. I would never pay that kind of money but, if someone else is willing to, what do you care? Part of the problem with this country today is too dang many people worrying about what other people are doing, especially when it has no impact on the people complaining. I think new car/truck prices are outrageous but I don’t post a thread complaining about them. I just don’t buy them. Jeez

I can see where OP is coming from, and I can see where the free market people are coming from too. On one hand yeah if you don’t like the price, don’t buy, but on the other hand, some of these mega hoarder scalpers are keeping retail supply way down and prices up (or at least not able to come back down). Really hurts new gun owners, those that didn’t have a lot stocked up, and people like me who want to get into some of the more boutique for lack of a better word calibers but are hesitant due to unavailable and or astronomical prices. Fortunately manufacturer supply is starting to catch back up with demand (for now anyways in non-Soviet calibers) and I’m hopeful things will get back to maybe not 2018-2019 prices/supply but something a lot better than we’ve had the last 18+ months in the not too distant future. If and when this happens I hope the scalpers have to resell their inventory at cost in a best case scenario for them.

Lesson time!

There is NO SUCH THING as “Price Gouging”

There is no such thing as “Scalpers”

There are simply individuals, who understand Free Market dynamics - choose to A) release personal investment, when they feel the return on investment - justifies selling within that individuals chosen threshold of value.

B) Some folks, AGAIN - who understand Free Market dynamics - and choose to invest their TIME/MONEY/EFFORTS - to get ahead of the curve & seek as much profit as they can

Same with: Cars, Land, Houses, Etc, Etc, Etc…

It all the same. And the most important aspect is EVERYONE - has the ability to do the same.

Hence “FREE MARKET”

I feel like you don’t understand what “market price” is. When you are trying to sell something for twice market price…… that’s gouging. You are hoping to take advantage of someone.

I have to respectfully disagree on the price gouging. whenever there is a disaster of any kind and people are charging $10-15 buck for a bag of ice, 2-3 times the “market price” for a gallon of gas and all the other assorted shitty people things that go on, that is price gouging. so lets do not say there is no such thing.

I agree that any one has the right to charge what ever they want for some thing they want to sell in normal times…

as a truck technician I was always asked by driver to work on their vehicles on the side. my shop rate was $250.00 hr, 4 hr minimum plus parts paid up front in cash. never worked on anyone’s vehicle as that was the idea. My shop, my price. that is free market.

I strongly feel (lol, like how one “feels” is somehow relevant, but anyway) that YOU clearly don’t understand what a “Free Market” is.

Market Price = What any individual is willing to pay, at the given time, towards the given item/product(s) they are seeking.

That simple.

If a person waits til’ a Snowstorm to buy a Snow shovel, they will pay accordingly.

If a person waits until a Hurricane, knocks out thier homes Power, to buy or “INVEST” (<-- keyword!!) in a Generator - rather then having commonsense or foresight, they will pay accordingly.

If a Mechanic being willing & able is willing to work on a Diesel motor, for $200/hr, but someone else is willing & able to do it for $50/hr

THAT is a Free Market.

AGAIN - and Please take time to HONESTLY REFLECT

… There is NO such thing as Price GOUGING. Period.

I had a long paragraph ready & typed, but realized - Merely quoting the above statement (and I genuinely mean this respectfully) , the quoted statement speaks for itself.

Again, please take time to Objectively Reflect on your statement.
